Did He Puncture The Tubing With The Fill?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm Just Wandering If Anyone Has Ever Heard Of Puncturing The Tubing From The Port To The Band During A Fill? I Had A Fill Last Monday Of 0.5cc And By Weds. I Had Acid Reflux Again And Could Barely Keep Water Done. So I Went Back In On Friday To Have The Doctor Remove 0.3cc. I Haven't Been Using Fluro The Last Few Times And He's Been Able To Hit The Port With The First Or Second Try But This Past Friday It Took Hi Like 5 Times Before He Got It. I Could Feel When He Missed It Cause It Was Alomost Like The Needle Was Hitting Another Organ. It Didn't Hurt Cause They Use Lidocaine First. I Was To Scard To Try Any Solids Until Yesterday. They Went Down Just Fine With Really No Restriction. Now I'm Wandering If He Didn't Hit The Tubing And Put A Hole In It And The Fluid Is Coming Out Of The Tubing. I Think I Should Have Alot More Restriction Because Before I Had Him Remove 0.3cc I Couldn't Even Get Mashed Potatoes To Stay Down. I Was Throwing Up Off Of Water. So Just Wandering If Anyone Had Ever Had The Tubing Punctured? Maybe It's Not Really Possible But I Just Don't Know Why There's Not More Restriction. I Would Think That The Tubing Would Be Very Difficult To Hit Cause If A Needle Rubbed Up Against It It's So Small That It Would Move To The Side. Well If Anyone Has Had This Thought Let Me Know.

I have heard of it happening before. If you continue to feel a complete lack of restriction, definitely give your doctor a call.

You may be able to test your restriction by eating a very small amount of something that typically doesnt go down well for you, perhaps a little bread.< /p>

There is a post in the remove band section on punctured ports. However, not being a doctor but giving you my thoughts, my doc always pulls everything out of the band then refills it every time, if it was hitting something else the tube (plastic iv tube from the syringe to the butterfly needle) would run a different color...I assume. The band is an awfully expensive investment for a mistake like that to happen, money and health are both at risk. Maybe you should consider switching doctors if you don't trust them.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
