I am really hoping they will be fair. I guess we all get uneasy when we are waiting for an answer. I am trying to keep myself busy for how ever long it takes to get the approval. Hopefully it won't take the whole 30 days they have.

Good luck! I will be submitting to Cigna sometime in August and I think my tactic is sending them more information about my fat butt then they ever wanted. That way, maybe they will just be overwhelmed and approve me quickly! I was lucky enough to dig up not just 2, but 5 years of weight history with a BMI over 40. Along with that I am sending 2 letters of recommendation from different doctors plus a personal letter stating my case (my PCP recommended that I do this). My BMI is 44 i think now and I have PCOS and high cholesterol so I am really having a hard time seeing how they could say no, but they do all the time. Do you think information overload will help?? I'm kinda becoming a little OCD about all of this....haha. Help!! :smile2:

Well still nothing. I called Cigna on Friday and they are saying they have not received it yet. So Lap band Solutions said if they still say that on Wedneday they will send again. Is it common for them not to receive it or is this just a way for them to stall?

I have Cigna too. Tentative surgery date is July 1st. I called Cigna on Friday too. No record of a request for pre-certfication. Feeling very frustrated and nervous. Let me know if you hear from Cigna.

Do you have a surgery date? Good luck.

I too have Cigna and am just starting the long process. It looks like you have been thru a great deal already without even getting approved yet. Is that true? I wish you all the best and keep posting...I have found Cigna to be very fair in the past and am praying this holds true. Kimberly

It is finally pending with in Cigna as of Yesterday. So I am guessing the 30 day started yesterday. This wait is terrible. So Iwill give it a week and start calling.

My paperwork was submitted on June 24 and my surgery is scheduled for 7/1 so I hope they don't take 30 days. I have been very upset with the surgeon's office about the delay since I gave them all paperwork a month ago. Just trying to go with the flow. May not find out if I'm approved until Monday! Please everyone think good thoughts!

I will keep you in my prayers that things move along with Cigna. I just received an incredible letter from my GP stating every diet I have been on in the last 8 years...I am hoping that will appease the insurance company and I will not have to go on ANOTHER supervised diet for 6 months. You keep us posted....Cigna has been very good to me and my family so I am praying that that continues. GOOD LUCK! Kimberly

Miranda....what in the hell took them so long to submit for you?!?! I realize they are busy, but is that not an important part of their job?? I have a funny feeling they are gonna get tired of hearing my pretty little voice on the telephone.... Good luck to you, please keep us updated.

I have no idea. They said it was submited two weeks ago but Cigna says they never received it. LBS resubmited this wedseday and Cigna has it now and it is pending. I am just glad it is pending now. Hopefully I will have an answer soon. I think I will call Cigna on Monday just to get an update.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
