What foods can you NOT eat since the surgery?

Recommended Posts

I can't eat soy sprouts or bambu ,so i guess asian food is a no no for me :/

I also can't eat cauliflower and chicken if it's very dry. Anything else i can eat, some things a bit harder to go down than others.

Oh and bread is very, very hard to go down and usually ends on a PB, so i stay away from it also.

I have lots of trouble with fries. Sometimes they will go down, most times I'm just mad at myself for trying!

I can't eat much bread, crackers, Pasta.< /p>

I can still eat steak! I was worried about that but it goes down fine. I'm really into salads now. When I first got banded I wouldn't eat them because I thought I had to chew it till it was juice, felt like a big ol' cow chewin on some cud! Now after reading how many people are successful with salads, I can say I am too. I chew minimally and it hasn't hurt me yet!

Have had some BIG problems with Peanut Butter... Hhhmmm Peanut Butter, PB coincidence...

Okay so I found out last night I can't eat watetmelon, I actually vomited last night. No PB or bleching Vomit. it had to come out. I thought mostly Water, no big deal.

As for the person with the question about the french fries...Well for one thing most people do not bite a french fry they eat the whole thingat once. I think because they dry out when they are cooked evne though they are fried, it gets sticky. Rice is the same thing and you really can't chew rice.

I am pretty tight and I can eat rice.

I just make sure it is well cooked. I dont have a problem with it then I add a little tuna and little bit of peas and have a nice meal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
