Dreaming about food...weird...

Recommended Posts

So I was banded the 11th, I'm 4 days post op. For the past few nights, since the surgery, I have been dreaming about food...

I am not hungry during the day, or anything. I had my first Protein shake today, and I feel like I've been to a buffet.

But at night, there are pizzas, sandwiches, cheese cubes, and brownies dancing through my dreams...

Last night I dreamed I was in some kind of food court with different little restaurants and a cheese stand. I could see the food and taste it. I dreamed that I actually ate some of it, and then panicked because I remembered I had a band and wasn't sure how much I could eat.

Very weird... :cursing:

Since being banded, I too, have been dreaming about food. What is strange is that they are always about food mishaps...I took a nap today and I dreamt that my mother's friend brought over a key lime pie and put it in my freezer. And in the dream I went to get it out of the freezer and someone (in the dream, I think it was my dad) had flipped the pie and it was all broken and crumbled in the freezer with chunks of frozen pie all over the inside of the freezer.

Not weird, my DH was banded on the 6th and was home all last week. He's spent most of his time cooking, he's done fried rice, two lots of cupcakes for the kids, chicken dumplings, home made pizzas, a huge batch of bolognaise sauce, pea and ham Soup, curried pea soup, zuchinni and leek soup, pumpkin soup, two lasagne's and a huge chicken curry! The freezer is groaning, I wont have to cook for weeks!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
