I realize I can no longer do this alone

Recommended Posts

For six years I tried to make myself a success story by loosing over one hundred pounds by eating right and exercise.

My weight always fluctuated in the fiveyears 240 to 290, I exercised, that wasn't the problem.

It was my anti-psychotics that put me here, and I feel like a bottomless pit when it comes to food.

I need my antipsychotics and I realize I need surgery to help with the never feeling full, the rest I can do and achieve.

I weigh right now: 267 and I am 5'8

Before I put on the weight I weighed 155

This is going to be a new year, I don't want to make it year number six of being morbidly obese I want it to be a change.

I am happy I found this site,

And hello

Lisa

Good for you Lisa! I can relate to much of your story. I always thought I should be able to do it on my own. 3 years ago I looked into the surgery and even had a surgery date. But, I kept thinking that I should be able to do it on my own. Well, 3 years later, I had put on even more weight, and I realized there was nothing wrong with admitting that I needed a tool to help me achieve my goals. Good luck on your journey!

you've come to the right place

I use this place as surrogate to my support meetings I can't make

the chat room usually has someone in it..

great hangout to voice yourself or just jump into the nuttiness

Welcome

there's even a blog spot

great place to journal and vent

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
