Hello from Dallas!

Although I've visited this site many times, I've never posted a message here....or ANYWHERE before. I was banded on May 29, 2008 in Richardson by Dr. Benavides. I am having some problems getting all of my Protein shakes in. I'm very pleased with my progress and I'm looking forward to cyber friendships with you all.

Hello!

Yes, I do feel some restriction, at least I THINK that's what I feel... I get full after about 5 oz. of mushy food. I am not generally hungry very often--what a change for me! I have the AP band and it does have some restriction in it already. I go on June 26th for my first fill. I'll bet when you get your first fill, you'll feel a difference. Hang in there....you can do it!

Hi! I was banded on the 27th, too and I'm only allowed to eat 5 ozs. of pureed Protein & 1 oz. pureed veg. a day! My doctor said he doesn't want us using Protein Shakes because they pass through quickly & don't keep you feeling full. On Tuesday, I'm supposed to start eating regular food. I don't feel any restriction & am scheduled for my 1st fill on July 2nd.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
