The more I read on here the more worried I get about being approved.......Every time I see an approval I get a little ray of hope. Keep-em coming. Maggie:thumbup::smile2:

Well my surgery got approved now I just need to hope I get authorization for the fills. I don't think it will be a problem though. I am STILL in shock! I do think it depends on who gets your case because really I have only one currently treated co-morbidity.

Congratulations on your approval. Hopefully I will know by the end of next week if mine will be approved. The surgeon is sending everything in after my upper gi next Tuesday. Maggie:wink_smile:

I am re-weighing today. My surgeons office will then contact tricare and see if the info needs to be resubmitted or if I need to appeal the denial. I am 6.5 lbs heavier, as Tricare said I needed to be.

Wish me luck!

My surgery is November 3rd! I'm excited and can't wait! I will do all my preop testing in October. That will be a really busy month cause that is my birthday month as well as my daughter's. Hopefully all goes smoothly and the day will get here in no time. I'm so worried about not doing well on my preop diet. It starts Oct. 20th. It's not THAT bad I can have Protein Shakes, SF Jello, popscicles, and raw or cooked veggies.

To all of those waiting on approvals: make sure you ask about your fills! In all the shock and excitement of hearing "approved" I forgot to ask the lady about the fills. I called tricare later and the rep I got said the surgeon would have to send in for an authorization for more office visits after surgery. Luckily my surgeon doesn't charge for fills 90 days after surgery.

Good luck to everyone!

JWRN, It is hard to say congrats on gaining but in this case it works. I think I would put some weights in my pockets to, just in case....GOOD LUCK:thumbup:

Cobrien, how exciting to have your date. When, not if, mine is approved I am hoping to have it done in October. Thanks for the info on the fills. I will pass that on th the surgeons office staff. As for the preop diet at least you can eat veggies, not only drinking. I don't know what my surgeon does for pre-op.

I was amazed at how quickly I was approved, but I was not the first tricare patient that my doctor had. I'm assuming he knows "the right answers". I had been a little underweight for the surgery and just started enjoying food more than usual so by the time I made it to the specialist I definitely met the weight requirement and I have a co-morbidity- my knees- arthritis (truthfully, I think my knees are just begging for mercy under all this weight).

I had my surgery Aug 25. I never thought to ask about fills. I'm assuming that my doctor has that covered but I know now to ask.

I have have tricare prime remote with humana

Nena, How is the weight loss going so far. Much pain and gas after surgery? Hope I get approved as easily. Have a good weekend. Maggie:thumbup:

Ok, I had never heard of these before but I so LOVE the Gas-X strips! They are awesome. I've had some gas but not bad thanks to those strips. I've had some soreness. It was only bad when I overdid it. Thinking that I would run a bunch of errands while I was off from work. Bad Idea! So I took pain meds on the 2nd day and on the 4th day when I ran the roads. Today I'm feeling good, not hungry, just taking it slow. Thanks for asking.

I reweighed Friday and weighed 6.6 lbs OVER the magic number required by Tricare. The surgeon's office is resubmitting eveything!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
