Guest BikiniBeachy Posted June 14, 2008 My insurance says they only cover $7,500, and the first office I called said it would be CHEAPER to go self-pay cause they charge the insurance company twice as much than their self-pay rate. Anyone have this cap on their insurance, and how much did you have left over to pay?
vegwannabe 1 Posted June 17, 2008 Huh? That just doesn't sound right. What good is the insurance if the "lifetime limit" is only $7,500?!? Clarify whether they are saying... 1. They will pay $7,500 towards the cost of the Lap Band procedure, or 2. If your annual deductible is $7,500, or 3. If your annual maximum "out of pocket" is $7,500, or 4. Over your lifetime of coverage under the policy, you can only get sick $7,500 worth. That's wacked!
MacMadame 81 Posted June 18, 2008 My insurance has a lifetime limit of 2 mil. But it's group insurance through my company. Lots of times private policies have a much smaller limit.
Guest BikiniBeachy Posted June 26, 2008 It is $7,500 towards bariatric surgery...and yes...I'm NOT reading it wrong. I already called one office who had heard of that and told me they might as well do self-pay since they will charge my insurance over 20k, what a joke! I am STILL LOOKING for people with this type of insurance...anyone?!
toribug1 0 Posted July 2, 2008 I work for Humana and we have a $5000.00 lifetime max after our deductible. I want the surgery but I have no idea how much it will cost me out of pocket. I think this is wrong and it should be changed. I had breast reduction and I only had to pay my deductible. I would think the Lapband would be better for my health in the long run. I am also having a problem with my PCP, she doesn't believe in it and I need her to write my history up, Good luck
