How Much Have You Lost So Far?

Recommended Posts

I was banded on May 23, 2008. I was a little bit scared. I was unsure about the outcome. I was sure that I had to take control of my health.

I wanted to lose weight. Well I am doing just that. I have lost 51 lbs.

I have about 25 lbs to go.:(

Hi DeconBlue,

Your weight loss is amazing!!! Great work!! Can you tell me what your diet has consisted of. I'm on week 3 of post op and getting a little bit bored of what I can eat. It scares me because I don't go for a fill untill the end of July and want to keep losing.

Q: I was asked a question. Your weight loss is amazing!!! Great work!! Can you tell me what your diet has consisted of. I'm on week 3 of post op and getting a little bit bored of what I can eat. It scares me because I don't go for a fill untill the end of July and want to keep losing.

A: I am eating bake potatoe for lunch. I drink a slim fast for Breakfast. My dinner consists of a salad, sometimes, a very small piece of chicken. I love to ear brocoli & cheese Soup. Smaller portions really make the weight come off. I hope this helps.

I hit 40 today!!!! YAHOO!!!

Baked potato sounds so good. My dr/hospital says no potatoes, and nothing 'white'. I wasn't much of a starchy person before but just tell me I can't have something and I want 'em!! LOL I did have about 5 french fries today though. And that was all I wanted.

The potato is the second most consumed food in the U.S., trailing only milk products. Potatoes per Person The average American eats 120 pounds of potatoes a year. That is almost 365 per person; or a spud a day.

I can not even the whole thing anyway:tt2:

Nutritional Information

On Serving Contains:

Calories ..................110

Protein ................... 3 grams

Carbohydrate ......... 23 grams

Fat .......................... 0 grams

Dietary Fiber .......... 2710 mg

Sodium ................... 10 mg

Potassium ............... 750 mg

Since you took the time to educate me on the nutrition info on potatoes (which I didn't need), I can only assume that my post saying I couldn't have potatoes offended you. For that I am sorry. That wasn't my intent. I have discovered from reading the messages here on this website that many dr.s have many different dietary guidelines. Some make you follow a 2 week liquid preop diet some don't for example. I was just saying I didn't get to have potatoes on the nutrtion guidelines my surgeon goes by. I have never eaten that many potatoes but when my husband had one the other night I sortta missed it. But then again I also missed the huge glob of butter on it too. Sorry if I came across as food police, that wasn't my intent, I know the nutrition info on potatoes and where to find it if not.

I was not offended no apology needed! At first I felt guilty eating a

potatoe. I saw that at different times we could have mash potatoes

and it was cool. My full nutritional definition was for others too see

it has low calorie item and does provide Protein. Please, please feel free to ask me any question you like. It's all good! Of course in moderation

is always good.

Oh good, glad we are okay!! :biggrin2:

I think my surgeon makes us follow a low carb diet which is probably the reason for his potato ban, the high carbs in it. I am following his guidelines to the T right now (well the nuggets and fries weren't on it but he allows one cheat or 10% off plan per week and that was my cheat) so when I go in for my first fill I know just how this is going to work for me etc.

Had my follow-up appointment yesterday and I have lost 13 lbs so far. I was also happy to hear that my surgeon gave me what he called a "low profile" port so that it wouldn't show when I lost weight.

I am also a Fabulous Forties girl now, as of yesterday. I feel so good right now, not even turning 40 can bring me down. It was also good to be able to Celebrate a birthday that didn't revolve around food for a change.

I hope everyone is doing great.

Sincerely,

Stephanie

Happy Birthday Stephanie!! What a great bday gift to give yourself, the band!! You are one decade behind me, I turned 50 at the same time as my band! I considered it my gift to myself, for the rest of my years to be quality ones!

Hi, this is my first posting for this site. So far, I like what I see and hear. It is nice to find a place to share questions and answers about the banding. I was banded on June 25th and have lost a total of 25 lbs. I lost 17 prior to the surgery and 8 four days after. I then stopped losing, gained 3 and have since lost the 3. Now, I am ready to move on, get the first fill and ready understand what this is all about. Do any of you get frustrated with the fact that you can't really tell a difference since the surgery? My surgeon did not tighten the band therefore I am hungry all the time. I have done well to stick with their requirements, but it sure is hard and yes, I have cheated at least once or twice. My first fill is not until July 25th. I just wish they would bump it up. I am tired of fighting with myself not to eat more than I have been told to.

I haven't gotten to the point where I feel really hungry yet. I guess that is a blessing for me, because I have always been a binge eater and without the band I would make myself sick eating everything and anything until I felt full when my emotions were running high.

To be honest with you, I don't really crave anything just yet either. I ordered my kids pizza last night and the smell was heavenly, but I really didn't even have the urge to look at it. I thought I would have a big problem with not having my carbonated soft drinks either, but to my surprise, it has been rather easy. I am so loving my band.

I know eventually things will change and I will need a fill more than likely, but I am enjoying not wanting anything for now. Not only is this the time to heal from surgery but to change my way of thinking about food before I am let loose to eat solids again.

Good luck everyone.

Stephanie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
