How Much Have You Lost So Far?

Recommended Posts

I hit goal of 126 lbs lost in one year!! YIPEE!!!

DRH, what kind of foods are you eating? Are you following the rules of the 'tool'? eating 80% hard Protein, then veggies, few carbs? are you doing any strength training? walking at a brisk pace? are you sure on your calories? do you track them? are you eating slider foods? eating small meals through out the day? Not sure what the problem is but if you give us more specifics we might be able to help. Or does your dr office have a nutritionist you can consult? have you spoken of your concerns to your dr? How tall are you? 162 could be a good weight. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone! I haven't logged on in a while because I was becoming more and more discouraged as my weight loss slowed down. I got another fill and I began losing again. I haven't lost as much as some of you but I am back on the right track and determined to get the rest of this weight off. I am so excited because as of yesterday, I have lost 100lbs. I am looking and feeling better than I have ever felt in my life. At 26yrs. old I am now smaller than I was at 16yrs. old. I never thought I would ever see this day. I thought I would be a big girl for the rest of my life. I see a brighter future ahead of me now. I will never let my weight hold me back again.

Great2bethin,

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I have had out of town guess in all last week.

My normal day:

I go for a 2 mile walk in the morning, brisk.

I normally have a protien bar with 19 g of Protein for Breakfast.

yogart with granola for lunch due to I have been having slim issues since my last fill. I use to eat salad with turkey.

snack chocolate covered soy nuts 100 cal. 3 g of protient

dinner normally is protient (steak, or fish soemtimes chicken) and veg

I walk all day at work.

I go for another walk at night, I just got a bike so I am working on bike riding at night. I haven't been on a bike for 30 years.

I don't think I'm getting enough protient any more since my last fill but I can't eat anymore.

I am 5 foot and I feel comfortable at 162, but I would like to be about 130lb.

I have just got so discourage I'm not sure what else to do.

Any sugguestions would be great.

Thanks

DRH

I am so glad to read your posts..not that I am glad you all are also struggling, but because I have felt like such a failure. I have only lost 53 lbs and just celebrated my 1 yr band anniversary. I too have not done all my part to help loose the weight. I have only had 1 fill and that was months ago, but I am getting stuck at times. I am able to consume much more then I should and know a fill is probably due, but am afraid since I am on occassion getting stuck. I would love to chat with those going through my similar circumstance.

JKPenny - Responding quite slow to your post as I haven't been on the website for probably 9 months. I found your post and connected because that is where I am at right now. Did you ever go get that fill since your post? How is it going? I really need to get back on track. I got this band for a reason and need to work it. Would love to hear your experience.

Well updates......I did have my second fill and have lost a total of 83 lbs. My 2 yr bandanniversary was June 4. I would have like to have had more loss....but I'm completely happy if this is as good as it gets. I'm losing about 2 lbs per month however slow it is...its still a loss. Would love to see how everyone else is doing.

Congrats JK!! I am doing pretty well. I lost 126 lbs my first year, I maintained that pretty much my entire 2nd year however, in the recent couple months have gained about 15 that I am trying to lose again. I had 2 knee replacements and a move out of state and well things just got away from me. But I am stopping it at 15 lbs before it gets to 50!

I just hit 75 down, and I'm about 15 months into band2. I've had several fills, and am at about 6 - 7 ccs.

Always ;-)

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
