Can you please provide details on how you drink Water? ( hehe - that sounds like a silly question)

ie how often? how much? when do you drink it?

I'm asking because I have read that Water will wash the food past the band, so what is the general recommendation? do I drink lots of water 20 minutes befor eating, then avoid it during my meal,

and avoid it until 30 minutes before the next meal?

Take glass from cubbard...fill with water LOL. I'm joking!

My Dr. told me that I was permitted to drink water up until I ate and had to wait 30-60 minutes after eating. I have a water bottle on me continuously and drink about 64-80oz. a day. Although, yesterday I didn't get as much in as I was supposed to and had an awful headache and leg cramps.

I was told no drinking 10-15 prior to eating and no drinking 20 or minutes after eating... Always sip- never gulp your drinks...

A very good way to get your Water down is to add a slice of lemon and a pack of Splenda or a packet of Crystal Light... Lemon w/ Splenda works great if you're in a restaurant... I only use 1/3 of a packet of the C.L. because they are too strong for me, but I've been drinking about 100oz/day.

I'm trying to drink 1/2 my weight in liquids, but it's really hard!

I'm now 256, so 128oz of Water is tough, but I'm trying... It was impossible at 282 (starting weight)

I was told not to drink 30 minutes before meal and to set timer and wait at least one hour after meal before drinking, and then only sip. After that try to drink something every 15 mins. (2 to 4 ounces). Hope this helps.

My Dr tell us the 30/30/30 rule. Nothing to drink 30 before take 30 to eat and nothing to drink 30 after.

The reasoning for this is so that your pouch is empty before you eat. Eat protien first then veggies fruits and startches.

2 things can happen if you drink while eating.

1. You can push the food into you regular stomach to quickly. This would mean that you would be hungier sooner so you will end up eating more.

2. liquid can dialate the food in your stomach which can make you very uncomforatble.

I never thought I could do this. I have no problem with the during and after but the before I am not always 30 minutes.

Hope this helps

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
