Banded in Warren, Ohio

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone else has had thyroid problems and is banded? I had a complete thyroidectomy in 2003.I am losing weight. But I just had an abnormal TSH level. they raised my levoxyl from 150mcg to 200mcg. It is harder to lose for me if my levels are not right.I eat 800 to 1000 calories a day. It just seems that I am not losing as fast as some of you.

I had a total done in 2004. I'm now looking to be banded. I'm not on Synthroid any longer because my TSH levels were bouncing all over the place.

Try to find a Doctor who will switch you to Armour Thyroid. That should help level everything out for you.

You have to remember that everybody loses weight at a different pace. Where it seems that some people drop the lbs in nothing flat, and others are dropping lbs a little at a time, every lb lost is a milestone, and should be treated as such.

As for having no Thyroid, that does put a different spin on things, and does add some challenges along the way to becoming healthy again. Just remember that you're doing your best, and that your Doctor's happy with a with your success so far.

You will reach your goals, it all takes time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
