I lost hair from the trauma of the surgeries. But it only lasted a couple of weeks. We shall see what happens at the end of summer. Delara may have to get a special filter for her pool!

My hairdresser suggests taking Biotin as it helps encourage the hair to grow back in faster. She recommended this to my friend who has gastric bypass and it really did help her hair regrow faster.

It is basically because of the dramatic shift in the body. Also, fat stores up excess hormones, so as your body releases fat, it releases all those hormones and it can kind of mess up the system for a bit.

Just take good care of your hair. Treat it nice, give it good conditionings and taking Biotin will help it to return faster.

Karen,

I was just wondering about the Biotin. Someone (my docs nurse) recently recommended that I take it, so I bought some yesterday at Walmat.

Does it really help? My doc's nurse said that it does!

And just when I thought it was safe!

Here I've been patting myself on the shoulder for doing something right since I haven't had any loss and wouldn't you know....

Oh well, I've been having trouble finding a new hairdo anyway (they don't really have any for curly hair) maybe I'll just shave my head!

My hair is falling out . I have spoken to my doc and a few friends that are having surgery it usually happens in months 4-5 , if this is possible try to increase your Protein intake. I am also taking a multi vit and some Biotin. My lab work is ok my protein level is normal. so I hope this is just a phase . My hair is thin already.

It does grow back, I think taking Vitamin B12 also helps.

I have been banded now for about 17 months. My hair fell out much worse than after I had children... enough to where I had to keep moving the part of my hair farther over to cover it, and eventually that didn't really help anymore either. I found a great product, which I mentioned in an earlier post a few months ago, that really helps my confidence while I'm waiting for regrowth. It's a powder product (looks like pressed eyeshadow but matches hair color), and you stipple it on the scalp with the brush that comes with it. I would not live without this product right now. If anyone is interested it's on QVC.com. Search for Joan Rivers hair products, and you should find it easily. The good news is that finally, after months and months of losing lots of hair, I am finally seeing regrowth with baby bangs all around my front hairline and lots of little flyaways on top of my head, so I'm relieved to see some progress in the right direction. I don't know if it's diet or what, so I can't help anyone there.. but whatever it is, it seems to be true that it is, in fact, only temporary.. thank goodness. But seriously, if your hair is so thin you can see your scalp shining through, get the product I mentioned above... it really works.

Well, this is one side effect I won't have to worry about. I have alopecia...but wanted to throw this out to anyone who is having Hair loss. Wigs are a lot cheaper and a WHOLE lot more fun than they used to be. I have to wear one every day, and I have everything from blonde to black, short to long, and everything in between. Sure, I would love to have my real hair back, but *shrug* not much I can do about it, so why not have fun in the process!!! I buy them all over the place - ebay, beauty supply stores, www.voguewigs.com, and a few others!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
