bluefish62 0 Posted June 13, 2008 :ohmy:My name is Darie, I'm 45 and I am scheduled for surgery on June 16th. I'm a little apprehensive, but excited about it also. My doctor is Dr. Cavazos, in San Antonio, Texas. I need to lose around 90-95 pounds and am hoping that this will be a helpful tool in accomplishing that. The main thing I am worried about is postop nausea, I hate nausea!! I'm also concerned about feeling the band in my stomach, what has anyone else experienced? Is it noticeable? Anyway, I look forward to talking with you all as we go along on our weight loss journey!! Darie:smile::thumbup:
wstone 0 Posted June 13, 2008 Hi Darie, My name's Waynette. I'm being banded July 11th at Baylor Planoby Dr. Nicholson. I have the same amount of weight to loose. I always tell them that I get sick and they'll put something in my IV to prevent the nausea. Good luck on your surgery and you weight loss journey. Jodi_620 37 Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) It is very important that we don't vomit with lap band surgery so they are prepared to make sure that you don't get sick. They put anti-nausea meds in my IV before surgery and gave me an anti-nausea cocktail in the IV afterwards. Then they gave me a script for anti-nausea medication to take home (as well as antacid and pain meds). When they were moving me from post-op to recovery, I did get nausea from the motion...that is when she gave me the cocktail and it worked immediately. You can not feel the band inside you.
