I'm August 5th as well. I started my pre-op diet today. I swear I've lost 5 pounds just today.

I was in my bathroom this morning and was trying to get some clothes off the floor. I scooted the scales over with my foot and it hit the stool. The scales shattered into millions of pieces. Must be some kinda omen for the first day of the diet don't ya think?

UGH!!!

I am hoping to get banded in late July or early August. The Dr.'s office told me that they schedule a month out and I go in on the 24th to schedule my surgery. I am very nervous about the liquid diet I am trying to get lots of ideas on liquids I can have so that I will be prepared. My doctor only requires one week liquids prior to surgery so that is good for me. Good luck to you.

Shelby - I LOVE your August AllStars banner, but couldn't figure out how to add one (at least not with the star - which is the best part)... How do you do it??

i'm august 5th too! :svengo: started that fun fasting two week diet. so far today has been the worst...i'm not hungry...but man i have the headache of all headaches. i think it's the withdrawal from sugar and carbs. i'm still drinking diet iced tea...so i know it's not from lack of caffiene. but you know in the end this will all be so worth it!!! so glad i found you all!!!

My surgery was at about 12:30. I'm staying overnight. It really wasn't as bad as I thought. I just feel like I've done about 5000 setups. I've walked a little bit. I got a wee bit dizzy though. Hope everyone else made it through without complications.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
