Carrie_C 9 Posted June 13, 2008 Has anyone had any luck with any of the new creams for stretch marks? I have horrible ones on my legs and I'd be willing to try just about anything to get rid of them!
tommaney 0 Posted June 13, 2008 There's a new one from AVON out there--I really want to try it but haven't yet. I tried Bio-Oil but that just seemed to make my scars a bit softer--no help with stretch marks.< /p> I think there are some laser treatments out there for them....probably expensive! If anyone has found anything that works on new or old marks, I'd love to know too!
Froggi 4 Posted June 13, 2008 you can't get rid of stretch marks unless you literally have them cut out with plastic surgery. They are permanent. You can make them show less, which most of the creams say they do..but that's about the only thing unless you go invasive.
gg2007BandSTAR 0 Posted June 13, 2008 I use pure coco butter or shea butter on mine, and i have found that they have faded them out a lot, you can hardly see them. I would show you, but i dont think im brave enough to show my big belly on the forum yet lol lol
myturn0421 0 Posted June 13, 2008 We actuallly talked about this at our last support group meeting. The PS said the only way to really get rid of them is to have them removed. He also said, any lotion will help - it's actually the rubbing action the makes them softer and faded. A stretch mark is a tear in one of the layers of our skin, so keeping it moisturized and rubbing on it help the healing process.
anniedub 0 Posted June 13, 2008 I have had great success with Bio-oil.... but persistence is the key! It can take months to get results on the really stubborn ones, but just keep on truckin. Most of mine are nearly invisible now, thank god!
Carrie_C 9 Posted June 13, 2008 Where do you get it at?
anniedub 0 Posted June 13, 2008 Where do you get it at? Bio-oil? Not sure about in the states, but here we get it at the chemist (pharmacy). It's not very expensive, and a bottle lasts a LONG time. Good luck!
tommaney 0 Posted June 13, 2008 I got my Bio Oil at Longs Drugs. I think I've seen it at Walgreens too. I'm going to stick with it longer and see if it helps : )
Froggi 4 Posted June 14, 2008 never heard of it lol
Carrie_C 9 Posted June 14, 2008 The nurse at the doctor's office said Vitamin E is good, but I don't know if I believe her or not.
Froggi 4 Posted June 14, 2008 Vitamin e works wonders on keliods and scars so I'd say on stretchmarks it would work good!!
anniedub 0 Posted June 14, 2008 Vitamin e works wonders on keliods and scars so I'd say on stretchmarks it would work good!! Bio-oil has a big Vitamin E component. It's basically a mix of different oils which is supposedly "the best formulation" for healing and skin repair. Plus, as I said earlier, it's cheap. Can't hurt anyway! AppleBottom 0 Posted June 14, 2008 Bio oil is about $12 at Walgreens here in Boston! I bet you could find it cheaper at Walmart or Target!
