Dr. Clifton Black- Alabama

Recommended Posts

Anyone use Dr. Clifton Black in Anniston? I've met with him, and had an upper GI for hernia/ reflux problems. I really like him as a gastro dr. I was wandering if anyone used him for lap band, and what the experience was like for you.

I was banded on May 13th by Dr Black. I go for my first fill on Friday the 20th. I have had no problems with him at all. I haven't been on the scales since my 1 week visit so I am nervous to see if I have lost any weight. At 1 week I had lost 6.4. But I know I need a fill because i am getting hungry between meals and wanting to eat more. Any suggestions send them my way. I am from Gadsden area and I dont really know any one that has been banded personally. Support Helps!!!!!!

I was banded by Dr Black May 21st and doing well also. I will be going Jul 2 for myfirst fill. I have no restriction and can eat anything with no problem. I just really try to do as he said, and when I start feeling satisfied, I quit eating. I am eating solid food, no prob. swallowing etc. I know I need a fill because my quantity of intake is much more than it should be and I get hungry faster. I also am fr. Gadsden area. I had lost 14 lbs at my 1 week check up, but not losing now.

Thanks to all of you for your reply. It is helpful to know people who used Dr. Black and were happy with the results. Did ya'll have alot of pain afterwards? I'm nervous about the healing process. He is a very confident Dr. and always makes me feel at ease when I talk to him. I know he is good at his job. My fear is... Is my body going to be good at this?

Hi kamica, I believe everyones pain tolerence is different. But, I never took any pain medicine after the surgery. I did have to stay in hospital over nite because of insurance reasons, but I was up walking, talking etc the same day. Yes I was tired and used the time for some additional sleep, but not enough pain to even mentioning. The nurse would come in and ask pain level 1-10? I would have to tell her no more than a 2. Hope this helps. Good Luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
