Stitches>popped>pulled???

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

just wondering if anyone has had any issues with their internal stitches like the port's and maybe your stomach's holding the band in place

here's the best description I can come up with right now:

  • popped (to the ER or DR)

or

  • pulled or stretched (pitiful yelping pain noise here but after a few minutes it's ok (it may say Hi every now and then)..:frown:

I am active not by choice on somethings...IE: stairs of our split level which I have learned to walk down sideways because engaging my abs in anyway is like stabbing a semi hot butter knife into my port side..((OMG port side..left side on me..sailors retort?))

But am actively committed to some like : walking my treadmill and not just because of the lovely flatulence most of us have been graced with..

anyway does anyone have or had any inny stitches issues???

BTW on my outy incisions it was glued and steri-striped and they are prefect :biggrin2:

I had the popped and pulled on mine. The week following surgery it felt like my shoulder/breast muscle was ripped out one night during my sleep. My stitches somehow came out/loose and my port flipped over. Oh, my port is in my left shoulder/breast area. It hurt like an SOB. The doctor couldn't tell me what went wrong, but we are addressing it. I'm having it corrected tomorrow (whoohoo!). I'm so ready! I've heard that is is not a common occurance. Sometimes things just go wrong.

this happened to me too the best my doctor and i figured is that i pulled the muscle the port is attached to. It doesn't hurt like that any more and couple weeks later it finally went away.

I "spit" sutures for several weeks after surgery. The little ends would poke out. It freaked me out. the doc clipped and removed a couple, but he said to just leave them alone they would fall out on their own. Fine and dandy, but I had to cover them so they didn't catch on my clothes. I'm allergic to adhesive in bandages, so this was not pleasant. I had to request paper tape in the hospital.

Hello everyone. I never had any of those feelings of pain. But, when I went for my first and only fill, it was done in radiology.

Now get this. I had a Tummy Tuck on 5/28 and at my post op appt, I mentioned that my port had moved about 3-4 inches. And then found out my port was not even attached to anything !!! How does that happen ?? What if I had not had any surgery ?? I think I blame my bariatric surgeon, but who knows ???

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
