I have a friend who was banded 3 weeks ago and she does not have internet access.... her incisions are healing good, but all of the sudden she has a skin rash that itches really bad all across all her incisions. She hast not taken any new meds, ate any new foods, or switched detergents, soaps, etc, and is wondering what is going on. Anyone else develop a severe itching rash over just the incision sites? She does not have the rash anywhere else on her body. any suggestions are appreciated.

Did they use stitches or the glue to close the stitches? If they used the glue then she is most likely allergice or I should say sensitive to that. The symptoms should decrease over time. I had the same reactions on my stitches but they used the glue on my incisions. I used Hydrocortisone cream on the itchiness. Just keep it away from the actual incisions till they heal.

If it gets worse she should call her doctor. She should call her doctor to get an OK to use the hydrocortisone cream as well.

Bandage tape? Band-aids? Steri-strip adhesive? That stuff can be lethal to sensitive skin. At three weeks out, she could be keeping the area clean and dry and rubbing a light coat of Neosporin (or whatever) ointment over the incisions.

Maybe try some Cortisone or Benadryl cream to the rash, and take care not to get that cream on the incisions?

I will tell Jennifer what you all said about the hydrocortisone cream and use of neosporin. She is three weeks out so I don't think she would just now be getting the allergic reaction would you? Looks like she would have had it immediately had it been that. Oh well, thanks for sharing.

Keep the neosporin away from the glue areas. It will eat it away.

Wait you said she was three weeks out from surgery? Her incisions should all be healed right? Are they leaking or weeping? Are they hot or warm to touch them? Does she have any other symptoms? One more thing, can you get a picture of them and post to the site?

She was banded 4/11 and all incisions have healed up great, no weeping or draining whatsoever. Sorry, but she will not allow any pics to be posted she is a very private young lady. She had sutures not glue. Thanks for your info.

I had issues with the tape and glue, but I have very sensitve skin. My skin was irritated for weeks, infact the extra redness just disaperared/faded this last week.

Could the itchies be the normal itchies from healing? I had that too. Some people itch more during this phase than others, and at 3 weeks, I was itchy too, but I know that is normal for me.

I too had this, the itching was unbearable sometimes, but that always happens to me on any cuts once it starts healing the skin gets really dry and itchy.

I had bad rashes from bandages. I used Neosporin, which turned my rash into red bumpy blisters cause I was allergic to that stuff, too. I'm all cleared up now.

Interestingly, I developed a ichy skin rash over just one of my incisions 3 months ago and it is still there. The doctor looked at it but didn't seem too concerned. Said sometimes scars do funky things. I'm going to have him relook at it in a couple of weeks but it drives me nuts. I'll let you know what he says when he looks at it again.

I react badly too to the glue on the bandages.... When I removed them ( a week after surgery as indicated) they peeled the skin off, so i was left with worst scars from that than the actual incisions. Maybe she developed an allergy?

I am the same way with Steristrips. I was like no no no don't use those!! They peel my skin right off and leave raw sores!!! Luckily, my doc used only glue. It was a pain to get off but I loved it!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
