A little concerned about it -- I just don't want to fail - I have failed at many weight loss attempts and I do not want to fail at this !! Encouragement would be appreciated.

I tried every diet and exercise program out there before I decided to have lap band surgery. I failed at everyone and actually ended up gaining weight in the process. I was very afraid of failing with this also. I had a very tough time while trying to get everything set up for surgery. It actually took me about 4 months from the time I went for a consult to the time I got a surgery date. I almost gave up somewhere along the way. Luckily I have a great husband who told me to have a little patience. When I finally got that surgery date, I was sooo excited and I realized that if I hadn't given up the idea in 4 months then it was something worth doing. Family support is my biggest factor in my success. Good luck!1 I know that you can succeed!!!!

As long as you know exactly what the band's limitations are, and the part that you have to play, you'll do great!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
