What's your hardest habit to break?

Recommended Posts

My hardest habit to break is drinking while I eat. I have yet to have a meal where I am not drinking. I am working on this one, but it is turning out to be more of a process than an instantaneous success.

So what about you all?

drinking with your meals will slowly decrease

That was easier for me to break after I got a couple fills.

I am preety good with not drinking with my meals at most times NOT all

I am still having a hard time with wanting to much and eat between meals snacky food are horriable.

Some days I am fine and others it s a battle all day

The salty crunchies! Particularly at bedtime.

I'm trying to make wiser choices (soy chips, nuts), but they call to me...

I have pretty much just resigned myself to a slightly slower weight loss because of it.

boredom eating and routine eating. Although I barely ever do it, I actually have never been able to break the mental habit of thinking walk in door, put the kettle on, make coffee, have a few biscuits. I used to do it every single time I came into the house, no matter where I'd been or how long since I'd last come home. Come home, make coffee, sit on couch, eat biscuits.

My body still wants to just do it on autopilot and I have to REALLY resist it.

For me, the only way to break the habit of drinking while eating was to not put any liquid anywhere nearby where I'm eating. It's just so ingrained after years of doing it.

For me, I'd say it's a tossup between wanting an evening snack while watching TV, and not sticking things in my mouth when I'm preparing food in the kitchen.

I have been having a struggle with eating slower. I have been so used to eating fast while I was working I know I am not supposed to do it but sometimes I eat in front of the T.V. Chewing is a big one with me. But I am doing it.

not being able to drink with my meal is one of my biggest concerns. it really worries me. How are you coping? if you were to sip a little Water with your meal what happens do you know? is it really that bad?!

No drinking while eating is a tough one, I usually wait until I feel I am going to die without a sip of Water then give in to a small ice cube.

Now, I really struggle with small bites and chew, chew, chew. I am usually starving everytime I have a meal, so I take a big bite forget to chew, get stuck, experience a whole lot of pain, maybe PB, then swear to myself that I will never do that again. I do the exact same thing everytime.

Hopefully, I will learn someday!!

No, sipping a little Water is not going to hurt anything. But really, do try to not drink with meals and see how it goes. For me it's really more of a habit thing than a "I need liquid!" thing. So just not having a glass of anything next to me is all I need to do.

The key is to understand how the band works: you eat solid food, which sits in your pouch and slowly moves through. There are sensors in the top of your stomach (sorry, I know, not the right medical term!) that signal satiety -- having the solid food sit in your pouch is what triggers this, and it'll make you feel satisfied on a small amount of food, and for several hours after eating.

If you drink with your meal, you will wash down the solid food you are eating, and this diminishes the satiety effect as well as allowing you to eat more than you would have otherwise fit into your pouch.

However -- many people on this board have said that they take small sips of Fluid with their meals and have not noticed a difference. They still are phenomenally successful with their band. There is also the case where you are tracking all of your caloric intake. If you are choosing to eat 1200 calories a day and no more, then whether you drink with your meal or not is irrelevant. You might have an easier time staying full and sticking to the 1200 cals if you don't drink, but that seems to vary from person to person.

It's definitely worth trying to avoid drinking with your meals though -- you might find it easier than you think!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
