Holy Crap!! What a NSV!!!!!WOOHOO!!!

Recommended Posts

When I went to the endocrinologist back in March, she told me that I would be put on cholesterol meds next visit and that insulin was also going to be a possibility. At that time I still hadnt gotten definite approval (after all my denials)for my surgery so I didnt say anything to her about it. Didnt want to jinx it before it was scheduled!!

Well, today was my "next visit" and my cholesterol and triglycerides were now PERFECT!!!!!

My A1C was 9.0 in March & today it is 7.7. When it gets to 6.5 I am officially no longer diabetic!!

So no cholesterol meds, and I have gone from 4 glyburide a day to now only 1/4 of a 5mg tablet at bedtime only!! Thats it, a quarter of a pill 1 time a day!! That is for the next 2-3 weeks & then I can stop all diabetes meds completely!!

In March I weighed 239, today I was 205!!!! Almost to ONEDERLAND!!!

I am so psyched!! Finally I have a tool that is ging to help me be forever successful!!:cool2::):w00t:

From an April 2006'er to an April 2008'er......CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

What an amazing group of NSV's!!!! My question is, how can any Dr. look at that and not be supportive of this surgery???

When I was banded I was taking 2 meds for high blood pressure, taking Metformin for high blood sugar, and had been on cholesterol meds (they sent my liver enzymes soaring though!) and anti inflamatories for my aching knees........and now I do not take a single prescription medication!!!!

Well right now that is a lie! I am on some antibiotics following my TT--and you should have seen the look on my pharmacists face when he saw me!!! He told me, he figured we had gone to mail order prescription service.....I told him nope we got rid of the Rx's altogether!!! He was shocked by my change!!!

YAY us!!!

Keep up the GREAT work!!!!

Kat

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
