I had my surgery may 27th......so that makes me......a little over 2 weeks. I am getting hungry but I can only eat about 3-4oz. I am almost consumed with finding and eating enough Protein. It seems like thats all i've been concentrating on since surgery. I guess I am too vain and don't want my hair to fall out (LOL). It's funny because I don't think about food the same way I used to. It's just something I have to deal with in order to get by. It sometimes is an inconvenience, so I deal with it 3x a day and get it over with as quickly and safely as possible. AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT FEELS THIS WAY?????? Christina40, I forgot about deli meat!!!!!! I've done everything else except deli meat duh!! The reynold's storage containers are awesome; they've been a life saver for me. Oh yeah today was scale day and I'm now down to 217lbs. YEAH!!!!! Goodluck ladies and again, WE CAN DO THIS!! XOXOXOXOXOXO - KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Christina40,

(mouth dropped wide open!!!!!) I can't believe you've dropped that much weigh so far. I am so happy for you and........jealous. I've only lossed 8 lbs but I'm still work in progress; i'll get there eventually. I start weight training next week so hopefully that will help with some weight loss. My weigh in is on sunday too. I will let you what my scale says and please let me know how you are doing too.

Sorry - let me clarify - I lost 7 pounds pre-op diet and 19 pounds since the surgery - but thanks!

You are doing great - I remind myself all the time that I didn't put it on in 3 weeks - I am just so anxious to see result!

Hello All!

I am new to Lapbandtalk.com - I was recently banded in Juarez MX by Dr. Jose Rodriguez - so far so good! I am in Stage 3 purees/mushy food as of today 6/11/08 - taking it nice and slow.

Including my pre-op diet a week before my surgery until today I have lost 25lbs! My energy is skyrocketing and I can hardly believe what a difference I feel!

I have purchased several resource books that I have found to be useful - "The Lapband for Life" by Dr. Ortiz, "Before & After" by Susan Maria Leach and "Weightloss Surgery for Dummies". (lots of recipes and helpful hints)

I am thrilled to find this helpful forum for support!

Christina:wink_smile:

Congrats! I am going on July 1st to Dr. Rod as well! I hope I have as great of a success as you!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
