I had surgery 6 weeks ago and you will feel all kinds of strange things. Is your port on the left side, if so that is normal until you heal. I didn't feel completely sore free untill about 4 weeks.

I felt the SAME way, it is just still swollen and their is also scare tissue. If you are concerned then call your doctor on Monday, in my opinion it is still to soon after surgery, you are still healing.

There is something there, a port, scare tissue and you are swollen.

Hi Sheri,

I'm a few days ahead of you and I feel strange on my left side too...I also feel like theres a restriction running across my chest where the bra line is. Weird feelings but I'm just chalking them up to the whole thing.....I don't think I have to worry because the port and tubing doesn't really do anything until you need a fill....but they are alien items...

i have it too and i am 2 weeks out... it feels like my ribs actually hurt on the lower left... and the pain is bad sometimes.. i have to get up and walk around.. but it feels weird.. my port is centrally located (i think) so i am not sure what the deal is...

It's ok NYgrl, this is the place to come and vent your worries. We won't brush them off. You probably still have a lot of gas issues going on. I know that many people here have had real issues with gas. I know that when I have gas issues, sometimes I get that same "baby in the belly" feeling.

In addition to the gas, you are still very swollen from the surgery--your innerds are probably still in a panic. You just had major surgery and now you have extra "stuff" for your body to worry about.

And as for feeling like you have a big ball, it might be your port as Corgi suggested. I know my port is 4 fingers wide.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
