My doc said you have to wait until your wounds full heal and the steri strips, if used, fall off.

Also I think I read something about keeping scars out of the sun for the first year or so so they fade better. Not that any of us will be ready for bikinis for a while :tongue2:

I waited 2 weeks. The doctor told me I was clear to swim after that - I had the derma-strips/glue rather than stitches. He said I could swim all I wanted, just don't pull at them. I've healed great since then.

I was told to wait 4-6 weeks! :tongue2: Then again, it wasn't summer. I got banded in Feb and didn't go swimming until May.

There are lots of germs in pools, I would be careful to make sure your incisions are fully healed in order to prevent infection. ICK!

like I said I was back in the Water after 2 weeks.. But as misflipflop pointed out theres germs. I think those are minimized by the chlorine so I wouldn't run out and jump in a river probably. I think it also depends on the type of covering u have for your incisions. I had inner stitches but the exterior was glue so it was pretty well sealed.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
