I had a throw pillow for the drive home to put between the surgical site and the seatbelt. Also, I had to go get liquid tylenol and some of my allergy meds in liquid form. I bought alot of sugar free popsicles and Jello. That is all I can think of I hope everything goes well for you.

Liquid tylenol, and loose comfy pants, like pj bottoms. I had to wear my husband's sweats for about a week because the waist band irritated my incision sites. Good luck with your surgery! I had it easy, and am very happy I got banded. I'm already at my sweet spot, too!

Here are some things I had ready:

A small scale for weighing foods later on (ordered it online)

Small cups (about 5 oz) to eat out of

Small spoons (like mini coffee spoons)

Liquid Vitamin

Liquid or chewable Calcium citrate

Chewable Zinc (required by surgeon)

Pill crusher if you are on any meds that don't come in liquid form

A heating pad - GREAT for the post-op shoulder and back pain:thumbup:

Gas-X strips

Liquid Tylenol

Filled other prescriptions my surgeon gave me (Liquid Vicodin, phenergan)

Isopure Zero Carb Protein drink (tastes good and goes with a clear liquid diet)

A sampling of Protein shakes and whey Protein that I tried before surgery

sugar free Jello, Broths, sugar free pudding in the Fridge

Lip Balm

Comfortable lounge clothes

Plan on sleeping on a couch or recliner. Last night (post op day 4) was the first night I could sleep in my bed comfortably.

I only took me and my glasses to the hospital and the lip balm. Didn't need a thing while there. Had a pillow pre-positioned in the car for the ride home.

With these supplies, I have had a very comfortable week. Have not had to go shopping for anything!

This is an ecxiting time for you! Don't be nervous. I love my lap band already!

i strongly recommend a mother or mother-figure (nurturer) to give you TLC (and broth/liquids/medicine) during the few days following your procedure. I'd recommend mine (cause she did a stellar job at it), but she refuses to be "loaned out". :smile2:

my doctor said 5 minutes of every hour i needed to get up and MOVE! mom kept the timer and helped me remember what i was supposed to do (took me a little while to get the fog out of my head from the anesthesia). she also walked with me every hour--just around the house at first, but then up and down the driveway (it was nice weather). nothing strenuous, but then neither of us had to worry if i got dizzy (or dizzier than is normal for me, anyway :smile2:) and fell down.

and she was great about measuring the broth and juice and all the liquids that i was supposed to ingest every hour or two. (my doc said broth 1 hour, juice the next, and alternate for the first 2 days...but i couldn't remember from 1 hour to the next what i had just had.)

anyway, with mom keeping track of all that, i had a text-book recovery. and she enjoyed being able to take care of her (not so little) chick again. (i'm 43--i'm NEVER to old to go home to mom--so thankful she's still with me)

I FORGOT TO ADD MY TOILET SEAT RISER. MY DH got it at a medical supply store. It was a god-send. It is high, so you don't hurt your belly when you sit down on the toilet AND, no need for tongs!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
