Recommended Posts

Hi, I am 40 years old and have been gaining weight sence my boys were born. I was 216 at the time I had surgery and am down to 157. They said I was the smallest person they had done surgery on. I was also self pay 15000.00 at that time. I was banded a year and a half ago. My Dr. is in Salt Lake. At that time no one did it around here. I have been filled a couple of times but was filled too much. I went in a couple of weeks ago and got completely un filled. I had very bad acid reflux. So now i am waiting for my stomach to heal up. This surgery has been a wonderful thingfor me I hope youn do well with it if you ever have any questions you can call me. 238-6258 good luck Teressa

I am going for surgery in Mexico on Jan. 4th. Cyndi Rice in Pocatello is part of fillcentersusa, so she can do the fills here. She is trying to either arrange fluoroscopy through Idaho Imaging Center or have a Doctor she is working with out of Portland (I think it was) fly here, since he can write the whole thing off. She is getting more and more pts. I can give you info if you'd like. Feel free to email me. I am happy that there is a little support here in Pocatello. Only one other person outside of my husband knows this is going to happen. Scarey, but exciting too.

I live in Pocatello as well and just turned in all my info to insurance company and hoping to get approved. I'm going to Dr. Avila as well but I haven't asked how much is the lap band procedure? If I get approved my insurance company will pay 90% which is great but just wondering what my out of pocket with be and if they have payment plans!

Congrats on your success. Pray that I will get approved too!

Crystal - Dr. Avila isn't in Blackfoot any longer. His replacement is Dr. Davis. When I started looking into it, he wasn't approved to do surgery in Idaho yet, so I ended up going to IF.

They didn't have payment plans when I looked at it, but they did offer some advice on how to get credit for the parts not covered by insurance.

Good luck.

I live in Pocatello, work at ISU-so welcome to all Bengals!! I go to Blackfoot, to Dr Davis. He is really good. There is a place that does fills in Pocatello, but I haven't had a need to call them yet.

Happy Holidays to all the Idaho bandsters!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
