dashofpixiedust 0 Posted June 10, 2008 I am on the full liquid diet part of my recovery and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions how to make it more interesting. I'm so sick of the shakes and cream of wheat. If you know of maybe any other Protein shakes...I am using Matrix 5.0 Cookies and cream and dessert protein banana bread. I am also using crystal light and the south beach diet mix drinks. Any help is much appreciated! ~Ally
coolcrystal 1 Posted June 10, 2008 Go to GNC and go to their refridgerator and get the Isopure Clear Protein Drinks. They are yummy and come in cool flavors like Apple Melon and Razzberry. And they aren't that shake consistency.. they are like Water consistency.. They are like $4 something a bottle, but it has 40G of Protein in it and you can drink half in the morning and half at night. You can also try Low Carb Slimfast, chocolate shakes. They are about 40g also and pretty good.

Stay_Tuned 0 Posted June 10, 2008 I got 100% whey unflavored powder... I use the hottest I can get Water out of the tap..... TOO hot and the powder clumps...I use one scoop and one teaspoonish of better then boulion chicken base and 8-10 ounces of the hot tap water... Blend it up with a stick blender and you have 21 grams of Protein and it ISNT sweet...It helped me to break up the sweetness.... And the unflavored protein turns it milky colored but doesnt change the flavor....
S@ssen@ch 745 Posted June 10, 2008 On a full liquid diet you should be allowed creamed Soups, puddings, custards and..........ice cream. Now, that's not a license to go wild with empty calories. Choose those things low in calories, sugar free and high in Protein. You can add your Protein supplement to all of those things although when it's heated, most protein additives change their potency. Custard is naturally higher in protein because it's made with eggs. Be creative and remember: THIS TOO SHALL PASS. But this period brings with it skills you will need for a lifetime of band knowledge. Remember also that you can eat the things from the clear liquid diet. Like: Popsicles and jell-o. gregvd 0 Posted June 10, 2008 When I was on 3 weeks of liquids, I lived on EAS 110 calorie chocolate drinks. One at 10:00am / 12:00pm / 2:00pm / 4:00pm / 6:00pm / 8:00pm. I sipped with a small bendy straw, biting into the straw to make it last longer. I always loved chocolate so I had no problems and I was never hungry. Good Luck:rolleyes2:

Shinyhappymommy 2 Posted June 10, 2008 I took about a cup of frozen peas and dropped them into a cup or so of boiling chicken broth. I boiled that until the peas were tender and then put it through the blender. Also added a dollop of light sour cream to the blender. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. Peas also have Protein, so that's a bonus. I got that recipe somewhere on this website. You can also take refried Beans and thin them down with beef bullion until they reach the consistency you're allowed to have. sugar-free Cook-n-serve chocolate pudding was also a godsend during that time. Shinyhappymommy 2 Posted June 10, 2008 You're welcome. I also enjoyed the Campbell's Select Tomato Parmasean Bisque Soup. It wasn't low calorie, but I wasn't getting a whole lot of calories so it worked out. It was very yummy. It does have some chunks, so you have to chew just a little. luigismama 0 Posted June 10, 2008 One of my pre-op faves (and one I'll look forward to again in a couple of weeks) was 1 can of healthy request Tomato Soup, 1 can green pea Soup, and 1 can of milk. Whisk it all together and it's SUPER yummy! You can thin it out more with milk, Water, or broth if you like. I just started boiling carrots, onions, garlic, a bay leaf, and salt and pepper with some low sodium chicken broth which makes it good, too.
