How soon did you drive?

I'm getting banded this Friday and I was wondering if I would be able to drive myself home on Saturday? (My doc makes you stay overnight)

Thanks!

I was out and about the next day, but tired easily. 3-4 days later I was driving - big mistake.

Almost fell asleep at the red light.

You'll know when you start to drive...pay attention to your alertness and all.

Good luck!

I drove myself home the next day -- two hour drive. See how you feel, before you make a decision.

I was told I could drive once I was off pain meds. I probably could have driven the day after surgery if I had to, but I'm glad I didn't have to. And I'm glad the driver behind me and next to me on the road wasn't one day out of surgery under general anesthesia!

I drove about 5 days after my surgery - the most difficult part for me was the getting in and out of the car. All the movements were super slow!

i didn't have to drive myself home, but I was so nauseated from the drive and weak from the surgery. I could hardly hold my head up.I wouldn't chance it.

I was banded on 6/2 and there was no way that I would have been able to drive myself home. The hospital will probably not release you without someone to drive you. I brougt a throw pillow to place over my abdomin between myself and the seatbelt so it would not hurt if it tightened up real fast (my husbands idea) Also try to take a Suv or a truck it is easier to get out of when you have been sitting for a long time you can just plop out instead of pushing yourself out. Good Luck!!

I was banded on a wednesday, drove that friday. But I was also going stir crazy, I had to go out and do something. So when it came time to get the kids from school I snatched the keys before my mom had a chance too.

My doctor told me no driving for 5 days. My specific pain medicine makes me very dizzy anyways. I am now on a very low dose and don't have to take it very often, but even then I don't feel comfortable driving on it.

There is no way I could have driven myself home from the hospital. But then, I am a wimp.

I had surgery on a Wednesday, and I had to drive 15 minutes each way on Friday since that was my day to sit with an elderly relative with Alzheimer's.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
