After a lot of consideration I decided to post in the general forum. If this isn't the right place for this thread, please feel free to move it, mods !

I'm in the insurance phase of the process right now, but I was curious if there were any people out there that were very sweaty types of people before their surgery that have had the problem clear up post surgery ? I'm 5'7" around 260 lbs and have always been a very sweaty person all over--underarms, legs, back, backs of knees. I've also been a very oily type of complexion, and have gotten a lot of treatments for both of those conditions. And when I say oily I mean VERY oily (face and hair).

Also (so many alsos!) I've had a problem with a lot of skin cysts, typically where my skin rubs (legs, underarms, pubic area).

Is there anyone out there that has had any of these problems just simply go away or get much better after surgery ? I'd love to hear your experiences. Thanks !

Hello Cate,

I started at 300 and now at 275 I still have sweating problem with leg rubbing problem. This will change as we lose more weight I think it will take time, but will change as the weight comes off.

As I gained weight my sweating got worse and worse. Now that I am loosing weight it is getting better and better. I no longer sweat going up stairs or simply walking around the shop. I do not know if the lack of sweat is due to loosing the pounds or to the amount of work I do at the gym. Either way it is nice and I am sure you will see the same results. As a point of reference I am 6'5'' and was hitting the scales at 468.; I am now down to 417.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

You know - I hadn't really considered it. I was/am a sweater. Since 7th grade, I recall my back/face sweating when I rushed or when I went from a cold environment to hot or vice versa or even getting out of the shower - I'd have to let myself cool off. I even looked into it before (hyperhydrosis)...b/c I thought it was genetic (my father sweats when he drinks coffee). I hadn't given it much thought...but now that you mention it -it has significantly improved. I don't sweat as much or often as I used to...and yesterday was almost 100 degrees where I live. Humm...wow the band actually banded my "water works"! Thanks for helping me realize that! Wow!

Banded 2/4/08 and feeling great!

Well then this is good news ! Having always been somewhat of a sweater, even prior to gaining more weight (I have always been overweight to a lesser extent), this gives me some hope that potentially it will go away ! Thanks so much to all who commented.

If anyone has had any experience with any of the other things, I would also like to hear about that. Thanks so much !

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair. Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end. That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
