I was wondering how long everyone had to wait to do house work, especially vaccuming and laundry. I had my surgery on 5/22 and I wasn't supposed to do either one for 4 weeks. But I ended up having to do it today because my husband is a jerk and refuses to do it. I can't look and nasty floors for 2 more weeks, not to mention, I had nothing to wear. Now I'm afraid I might have hurt something. How long did everyone else wait?

I was banded on 6/3. I did everything right away. I didn't do anything strenous. I didn't hear that from my Dr. Mopping floors seem ok my I would double check with your Dr.

i think the key is not to do anything to strenuous, as long as your not going round doing a full deep clean on the whole house, you should be ok. Key is knowing your own body and listening to it. Were you in any kinda pain after you done it?

as for your hubby:thumbdown::tongue2::thumbdown:

I was lifting my 30 pound son the following day. I highly recommend you DON'T do that but a little vacuuming shouldn't be terrible. Just try and keep the housework light for a little while.

And no one can escape laundry duty, just try and make it easier on yourself by putting the clothes close so there's no reaching and bending.

No, I didn't have any pain afterwards.

gg, you are right about my husband! He actually did do some things around the house this morning. Why do we have to get mad at them before they do something!!

its so ironic.... when you ask them to do something they dont do it, so when you do get mad at them and they finally do it, they complain that we nag.

But if they did it when we first asked then we would have to nag or get mad!

Men!!! lol:glare:

I was doing things around the house about a week later. Of course, DH would yell at me to stop - I needed to rest. I was bored and had to do something. He can be a sweetie sometimes!

As for laundry - I H-A-T-E it with a passion. I'd rather scrub the tiolet than have to fold and put up clothes. Vacuuming is no problem, nor mopping. That is ALWAYS put off to the last minute. I literally go around some mornings praying to find a clean pair of underwear. I've had to go commando some days...I'm terrible!

lol I don't mind laundry, but I hate sweeping and mopping ugh lol Laundry is kind of nice, cept having to go down 12 stairs with baskets of clothes then having to go back down to put them in the dryer from the washer then going back down to get them and bring them back up the stupid 12 steps. (I can't breathe going up those stupid things) BLAH -kicks the basement-

I didn't mind it before kids. When it was DH and I - it'd only be a couple times a week. At the time he was in the military - so he didn't have a lot of clothes anyway. Same thing, every day. My children go through a ton of clothes! I know they don't wear them all - but things get on the floor, under beds, in the toy box. I honestly don't know how they manage it. It drives me crazy! So if I wash theirs, then ours aren't washed and vice versa. My washer and dryer are constantly running.

LOL - I need the steps...work some of my buttox off. My laundry room is right off the kitchen - takes literally two steps to get to.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
