I was banded over a year ago and for the last couple of months i have had really bad pain and my port site. Clothing hurts it or just touching the site is painful. I have told my doctor about this at past appt and she said that it could be a herina from the surgey. Has anybody had this problem with their port. I have not been sick and have not vomited. :confused2:

we pulled some Fluid out of the band and she said just let it go and see if the pain still persists..if it is still there then we will have to do a mri...but she threw around the word herina a few times..its just been one thing after another with this band.

Port is causing the pain. My body rejected that port. And always got inflamed. So that causes the pain. Port is an external material for the body. So there was always this possibility that body was going to deny it. And fliping...

Does anyone else have any information on this. I am 8 months out and for the last month my port is so painful. They dug around with a needle to see if there is Fluid, none. They did a CT scan and said the port is fine. The only thing they can think of is a pulled muscle or scar tissue. I love my band, but I cannot handle this constant pain. Taking out my port is not an option because I plan to get pregnant soon. Anyone else been through this?

I started having difficulty around my port site 2 weeks ago. I am 5 months post-op. Went to visit the Dr this week and they have no answers for me at this time as yet. I will continue to monitor it over the next couple of weeks. I find the pain is not getting worse, nor is it getting any better.

The pain is in the area of the port when standing. When I lie down and you apply any pressure to the port there is no pain. The pain seems to be more surface and not deep. The area on my tummy above the pain site is about 2-3 inches round and is just slightly more pink.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
