Missy0224 6 Posted June 8, 2008 You know I would really like to get on either South Beach or Atkins diet but the problem for me is the first 2 weeks of induction. I only lasted 2 days because I got terrible headaches, all I wanted to do was sleep, and didn't have the energy to even exercise. Any suggestions to get me through those horrible 2 weeks?:incazzato:
MSnika3 0 Posted June 8, 2008 I did Atkins quite strictly in the past. I don't recall having headaches during induction and I am Queen of the Headaches. I do know that whatever difficulties I did have were a thing of the past by day 3 or 4. Did you also stop drinking caffeine at the same time, by chance? I know that has done a number on me a time or two.
MSnika3 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Okay, so nevermind the caffiene, here's some info i googled: Side Effects of Atkins Induction Phase 1: You may experience some withdrawal pains on atkins induction such as headaches, nausea, fatigue and sore muscles.. These sides effects are usually due to your body's period of adjustment to giving up carbohydrates, also known as "Carb Withdrawal". This may last up to a week or more, but usually dissapears by the second week. It is extremely important to take Vitamin supplements as they can lessen the severity of symptoms. A good Multivitaminis essential, as well as Calcium, and potassium The Atkins Diet tends to cause a diuretic effect and causes the body to lose Calcium and potassium, especially during phase one of the Atkins Diet. You may want to speed up your weight loss with the Dieter's Advantage Supplement which contains many nutrients for suppressing appetite and speeding up weight loss. daba373 0 Posted June 11, 2008 If you're having troubles with diet - just try to get more fresh, wholesome meals daily. Say no to processed foods and junk food. A good site to consider is The Truth About Six Pack Abs - no diet, no supplements, it goes through nutrition and the best effective workouts.

(after went off- gainedi t all back then some) Those things you listed...it's called dieting. I went through it again while banded. I was even hostile....but I knew it was only for a time and would be over soon. Just sleep your way thru dieting as much as you can. Good luck!
Bjornsyouruncle 0 Posted June 11, 2008 Atkins has always worked really well for me, but the first day or two I have a headache as I go through sugar withdrawal.
HeatherO 7 Posted June 12, 2008 I got the headaches and withdrawal in the beginning as well. It only took a few days to make it through. 2nd & 3rd day were the worse and it rapidly improved thereafter. I think you may have gotten all of the pain of early withdrawal symptoms but did not get the benefit of moving past that stage by staying with it a little longer. Maybe you can ween yourself a little more gradually off carbs. Perhaps one week of post induction diet, then you go to induction and follow through from there on out.
