Surgery Tuesday June 10th

Recommended Posts

Just found this board last night. My surgery date is Tuesday and I am excited. Scared also that I will fail at this like I have other attempts at weight loss. I have told VERY few people and had to be shamed into telling my children. I am so embarrassed that I am so weak that I have to have surgery to lose weight...

Welcome to LBT! You will get more responses if you go the the introductions thread and post.

Don't feel bad, we have all been there, that's why we have the band.

Good Luck!

Welcome . . .good luck . . . and there is nothing to be embarrassed about! That is why we are ALL here . . . and the difference I feel from a year ago . . . to even 6 months ago when I had this done are unbelievable! I'm off my high blood pressure meds . . . yea! . . . don't walk with a cane anymore . . . yea! . . . and just feel sooooooooooo much better! Best of luck to you. It's hard work - but if you want it . . . the results are AMAZING!

I share your feelings. My surgery is this Tuesday and I'm becoming increasingly nervous. I'm not afraid of the surgery but of struggling with the adjustment afterwards (vomiting - food getting stuck). I'm sure the solution is to make good choices and be vigilant. I hope you have adjusted well since your surgery. GOOD LUCK:smile:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
