The day is here and I am getting really nervous. I hope I made the correct decision. Really worried about not eating all the foods that I enjoy. Was this hard to get use to?

I have found that my tastes are changing! I was talking to a friend who was on his way to pick up pizza for his family a few weeks ago. In the past I would have thought, "ooohhh pizza! maybe I'll have that for dinner." But now I thought, "oooohhh! I think my body would reject that. It doesn't even sound good. I think I have some great salmon in the refrigerator that I can cook!" Just go into this with the right frame of mind (doing it for your health)! I do still crave ice cream, but I haven't had any since my surgery. It's my trigger food, and I'm nervous about trying it again!

I'm on with you for tomorrow! I'm not worried about the food, i'm actually getting used to this pre-op diet. I'm nervous about the surgery. I hope they give me some happy juice quick, its a long ride to the hospital and i'm going to be a mess by time I get there. I have to be there at 5am so I have to leave at 3:30am. ughhh!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
