Fiber & Bowel Movements...

Recommended Posts

Now before I was banded I would take Fiber pills every day or over other day, and my bowel movements were like clock work.. Now since I was banded i stopped taking them because i read somewhere that said that u should not eat foods high in fiber or something.. so i kinda figured that the fiber pills would get stuck.. but I know my stomach is bloated due to me not having the proper eliminations... Now last night i went to the drug store and bought some metamucil fiber pills and i took them last night before I went to bed and i must say I have had about 4 bowel movements already and I have only been up for 2 1/2 hours... I feel so much better... One thing I will say is that u have to tweek somethings, everything is not for everyone... but what i do know is FIBER IS FOR ME:thumbup::incazzato:....LOL... does anyone else take fiber?

I think what you might have read was to avoid fibrous foods. But that doesn't necessarily mean things with fiber. What it means is foods that are very dense, like celery or brocolli stems. Things that are hard to chew well. At least that is how it was explained to me. I take the chewable fibercon from time to time.

I would rather eat the fiber. I have a half cup of all bran with extra fiber every morning in my morning smoothie.

Everyday I have more fresh fruits and veggies than meat.

Where did you read to avoid food with fibre? I've never been given that advice. I eat fresh raw veges with lots of fibre every day and eat a dozen prunes as my mid morning snack. I HATE getting bound up inside and will go to substantial lengths to avoid it! I don't like the artificial fibre in Metamucil very much, so food with fibre it is!

It was like Carrie C' said I read not to eat fruits that were hard to chew and to digest.. like the peel's on the apple, or broccoli and stuff..I took it the wrong way and just figured that i should avoid fiber, but I know now that I was oh so wrong...

I have heard that the peel on an apple can be hard to eat if you are very tight, but I don't have a problem as long as I chew really well. When I'm living in the mine site camp (I work at a remote mine, 3,000km north of my home 8 days out of 14), I eat the same thing almost every day:

Breakfast: Poached egg, 1/4 cup baked Beans in Tomato sauce, 1/4 cup tinned mushrooms in sauce (about 170 cal, lots of fibre in the beans)

Mid morning snack: 1 doz pitted prunes (150 cal)

Lunch: 1 cold chicken leg, 25g Brie cheese, 25g mixed almonds/pecans/dates/raisins, 2 strips each of fresh celery, red pepper, green pepper, carrot, 2 snow peas, 4 slices cucumber (with skin), 2 slices canned beetroot, 2 rings canned pineapple (in pear juice, not syrup). (About 250 cal)

Afternoon snack: small red apple (80 cal)

Dinner: 1 baby boiled potato, 1 floweret broccoli, tablespoon of either sliced carrots, peas or corn (boiled/steamed), either 1/2 cup of whatever casserole looks good or 2-4oz of lean meat (roast lamb usually). (About 3-400 cal)

Dessert: Tiny piece of cheesecake (2" x 1") or similar (about 200 cal)

Total: roughly 1200 cal.

Hehehe - there is NO shortage of fibre in my diet!!

After i get banded i would like to go for a colonic hydrotherapy. I hear that there can be food stuck for a very long time that can get removed by the procedure, not to mention loosing a few lbs. My sister had one done and she lost 4lbs!!!!

i like them, they taste a lil like rasins, but more meatier, with more flesh on them. Just try one and see if you like them.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
