about lapband surgery-its the info pack they send most people b4 surgery but since mine happened so quick there was no time.Im looking forward to reading it.Basicly though-I can still eat everything I like just in smaller quantities right?Of course after healing is done.my hubby is concerned that itll make him feel like a pig if I only eat broth all the time-lol.Actually he's very supportive but not quite sure as neither am I.I gleen that all will be the same just less of it.

Yep, AFTER the 6 weeks of healing. At that point, just see how you do with well-chewed foods. Some people have trouble with certain foods, breads, some meats so they just don't eat them. You will find out quickly what to avoid. so, yes, pretty much the same, just less of it.

The rule is...protiens first, then veggies, then carbs. Stop when you get full. No drinking with meals and for 1-2 hours after a meal. Follow that and you are eating the Bandster way!

But, heal first.

Did I leave anything out folks?

the thing Im not quite clear on is why wait the 6 weeks?I mean wont by then I will have a fill and be very restricted and have to learn to eat again anyway?I gather so far its because Im trying to get my band adjust and promote the size of the stomcah I now have?Sorry for the questions but Im the worlds worst about reading alot of stuff-I always want the cliff notes version:o)

Banding Cliffs Notes:

When you eat something difficult to digest, it causes your stomach to move and grind and wiggle and contort and do it's thing. This is NOT good for new sutures and freshly disected tissue. Let it heal. Let scar tissue begin to form. Let those sutures settle in around your band and stomach area. Don't cause your stomach to move too much. You want that band healed in nicely before you start eating like a Big Girl Bandster.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
