SkinnieMinnie 0 Posted June 6, 2008 Hello everyone! I had my upper GI today... It's been about 5 or 6 hours since I've had it and I'm starting to feel a bit blech in the stomach. Did anyone else feel this way? I've been drinking Water nonstop like they told me to because basically I want this crud out of my system. Is it normal to feel sick afterwards? They didn't mention this to me. Thanks, y'all! SM

Froggi 4 Posted June 6, 2008 Barium will do that to you. You should feel better the next day sometime. Wish you luck.
hopefulmom25 0 Posted June 7, 2008 Yep, my stomach wasn't right for the rest of the evening. I even threw up (sorry TMI) as I was leaving the hospital right after the Upper GI.

JRT Mom 919 Posted June 7, 2008 You might want to take a stool softener like Dulcolax--barium is VERY constipating. I didn't take one, and got stopped up for three days.....when I finally went I was pooping little white bricks...man you coulda built a house with those things..... ThinknHealthy 0 Posted June 7, 2008 Just to be encouraging to those who have not had an upper GI yet ... I had mine yesterday with no problems at all. Had some lemonade, some Water, took some dulcolax at night time as I usually do and had no problems. As with anything, it will pass (no pun intended). SkinnieMinnie 0 Posted June 8, 2008 Just wanted to come back one last time... I'm feeling fine. Things are "moving" along nicely, so to speak. I certainly didn't mean to scare anyone about the upper GI. It's not something I'd choose to do for fun, but certainly wasn't anything to worry about. Just another step in the journey to the band...
