I am not sure that I am eating enough. I'm terrrified to eat to much but I'm getting splitting headaches. My Dr food plan states liquid for the 1st 48 hours and then to mushy food for 4 weeks. I just had my surgery on Monday and the first 48 were fine. But now I feel like I'm straving (headaches, shakes, grumbling stomache). Did this happen to anyone else? Also does anyone have a good idea on how to get sleep at this point? Please help?

Are you getting in enough fluids? Sometimes dehydration can cause headaches . The grumbling stomach can also be from the gas, when I first had my surgery the 2 weeks after it was hard for me to determine if it was hunger rumble or gas rumble. How is your Protein intake? Protein will help curb hunger and help with the shakes..try a Protein Shake or eat some protein that should help. Hang in there is does get better each day :)

Seems like every Dr has thier own set of post op rules to follow.

What are you doing in the form of Protien and Water. I would start there. Make sure you are getting your Water in and of course your protien. As for the head ache tylenal (liquid). Once you feed your tummy the protien then maybe you will be able to get some sleep.. Hope this helps for now

Ditto what Michelle says she posted b-4 i saw (edited)

liquid Vitamins (I just got Centrum, tastes okay) and Boost, or Ensure or some other calorie/protein supplement drink. Get some nutrition in ya!!!

Could you have a caffiene headache? I did. Thank goodness for Prilosec, I can have some coffee now, but caffienated hot tea may help if that's the case.

As for sleep, lots of prop pillows, behind your back and in front of you if you do the side thing, or I just did the recliner for a few nights, hooked up the heating pad for my upper back/neck/shoulders for the gas, snoozed with blankets and a squishy feather pillow behind my head for support.

It will get better, I promise!
