The suspense on the last two pounds is maddening. We need an update!

<insert Eeyore voice here>

I am here... I am on the plateau from HELL! I am swimming, playing w/kiddos, etc. I have really struggled to not let my emotions get to me and try to gorge myself here and there. I have been floating 2 pounds up and down. I can't get the scale to move below 302. I have been beat to the century mark by GaBeeKeeper and Hollyberries. Congrats to those two!

It has been over 6 weeks since my last fill. (relocation) I went through a period of a few weeks where I felt like I could eat a horse! I felt like my restriction was just GONE! I was pretty ticked off at my clinic in Waco and wrote them an email encouraging them to hurry and find me a doctor here that I can work with. Well... wouldn't you know it... THAT night, Mr. Restriction decided to come back! Now, I can eat about the right amount and be full. I don't know what the heck is going on, but I am glad to have my restriction back.

I think now that it has been a few days with restriction, I will be getting back on the weight loss. I gotta be honest, I got pretty down on myself for not losing weight. This is the first time since Sx that I have had any length of time that I was not losing weight every time I stepped on the scale. It was just a hurdle I need to cross. How can I help anybody down the line If I don't experience the whole gambit of "Band Gremlins". I am feeling much better now... Amanda (wife) has been very supportive in my hard time. She really encourages me that I WILL make my goal weight. After all, I have lost 25% of my max weight. That is no small feat in 6 months!

Thanks for thinking of me...

VENT OFFICIALLY OVER NOW!!!!!!!!!

Good to hear from you! You should NOT feel down. You have just joined the ranks of the many of us who are slow losers. However, I am sure you will soon be back to your rapid loser sttus. Your body is just fighting back a bit. You have put it through quite a lot over the last 7 months. Relax. If you stay the course, the weight will start to drop again. Just remember all you have accomplished and all the many, many NSVs you have (in addition to the SVs).

ArcherMan!

Good to hear from you. I have to admit you and I have been going through the same hell. I have done the same thing up and down up and down. Although since hitting 254 I have stayed steady and not gone up yet. You have done remarkable and keep a really good attitude because it is a battle now for us. Although, we have lost really quick for Bandsters the next stage will be tougher for us.

I have decided that I need to exercise because I lost a lot without it. I started doing Water aerobics 3 days a week and 2 days weight training. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and am feeling a difference in the clothes. I like you have decided that if it takes longer so be it. We have a lifetime to lose the rest. Lets be proud of our accomplishment so far and join the turtle club; we are great company.

I am canceling my appointment for next week for another fill because I still can't eat without pain. I have to take it real slow and easy or I am sliming and pbing.

Keep up the great work and don't get down on yourself to much...you really have done remarkable.

Don't be a stranger, we are your "Bandster" family and we will always lift you up. How is the new job going?

Cindy

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
