First day on this forum!

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I have been banded now, for nearly 2 1/2 years by Dr. Yau and Dr. Joffe from the TLBC in Toronto, Canada. I now live in Glasgow, Scotland and went for a fill adjustment today as I suddenly became uncomfortably tight the past couple months. I learned today that I have now lost 105 pounds which I am thrilled about, and feel fantastic. Progress has been slow and steady for me, and my first year saw much less weight loss than I had originally hoped. Realizing today that I've lost over 100 pounds, I see that first year was important to go through, and that in the grand scheme of things doesn't really matter. I am now at a point where eating is in control and the excess weight I've lost makes exercising so much easier now. I would never be here if it wasn't for the band and though I still have 70 pounds to go, I know it is achievable!

For anyone just starting this journey, be excited, be diligent, and be patient with yourself. Write me anytime!!!

*Lisa

Lisa,

I was banded on 05/29/08. This site has been a blessed source of information for me. Your posting was exactly what I needed today. I would love to communicate with you. Please send me your email address.

Hi Lisa,

I am Mary and new to this site also. Its great to have other people to relate to. Had a band fitted in Nov 2006 and have managed to lose 56lbs so far. Need to drop another 90lbs and then I should be done.

You have done amazing to drop so much weight. Massive congratulations to you. Give yourself a hug from me!

I know I should have been more proactive with my aftercare and made sure I received enough fills. I stupidly thought I was at max with only 3mls in total. Have since found out this in not so, received another 1ml in May and went looking for more to be told Clinic in Dublin had sold out to a UK company. They cannot practice over here yet and there is a wait for registration etc.

Looking to see if I can find an alternative in Dublin.

Wish me luck as I feel so motivated at present.

Bye for now.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
