Hello all. I'm a 34 year old male and I was just banded yesterday. My brother was banded back in November and paved the way for me to follow suit. I have type 2 diabetes and I hoping the weight loss will allow me to stop taking meds and be able to control my blood sugars by diet and exercise. My doctor was Robert McKeen. It's too early to say anything about weight loss, but I'll be back next week with a report.

It's been just over a week and I've been a slacker at getting back here and posting. Things have gone great. The pain was never to bad, I was back to work in 3 days and I haven't been very hungry even though all I have had for over a week now is liquids. Yesterday was my first time that I smelled some co-workers eating hamburgers and I was really craving some solid food. I am looking forward to next week and starting on the mushy foods stage. As of today I have lost 15 pounds and I feel great!

I was banded Tues., June 10, 2008. I am a little sore, but Extra Strength Tylenol seems to be working. I have read many of the posts before and after surgery and have learned a lot. Thanks for all of the great info.

Wow, I've been a total slacker. So here is my latest update. I just had my first fill on Tuesday. I was fairly nervous about the whole process but it only took about 20 minutes. Today I am working my way back to normal foods. So far I haven't noticed the effects of the fill quite yet, but I have been on liquids and mushy foods the last two days. I am excited for the fill because I have plateaued the lat couple of weeks. I need to get going on losing some more weight. Total weight loss has been about 20 pounds but most of that was in the first 4 weeks. Here's to hoping I can get losing again.

I have done the same thing. I was banded June 10th and lost 25 lbs. the first 4 weeks and now am at a stand still. It's gotten very frustrating. My first fill is scheduled for July 31st. I was supposed to go tomorrow, but the surgeon's office called to day to reschedule. I'm trying to stay focused and continue with my routine.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
