i've found myself not eating that much. i don't get very hungry during the day, and sometimes find myself eating maybe 1 yogurt and some milk and Water all day. Today i just had a yogurt not because i was hungry but because i'd only had half a smoothie and some milk all day. This isn't very healthy huh? lol i am sure next week when i move on to mushy foods i will be inspired to eat more. Has anyone else had this issue of not being hungry?

Hi:

I'm not sure when you were banded, but you need to make sure you start getting more calories in. It says that you're here in New England and I am too. With the warmer weather coming it's also very important to drink more.

Talk with your doctor about a plan for your nutritional goals. You don't want to starve yourself because it will make you ill, bald, and could hurt your system. Please get some help and guidance from an expert.

Don't be afraid to have what you need to have as the weight will come off. Another issue with not getting enough calories is that you will start to get exhausted all the time. Don't forget your daily Vitamins too (probably liquid for now).

Take care.

Sue

for the past few days i had been starving... today i started somewhere inbetween mushies and full liquids. i scooped humus into a measuring cup and the whole day i ate less then 1 cup. i have felt full all day and couldnt eat anymore. but do make sure that you get your Water in, last night i felt like my legs were paralized and numb i couldnt sleep all night when i told the nurse today she asked me if i was drinking at least 3 bottles of water a day (and im not) and she very seriously told me that it is very important that i get it in and that it could lead to problems if i dont. so make sure u do that lol im still trying to drink all this water

thanx for the reply. its not that i'm worried about not losing weight, i've only been not eating much simply because i'm not hungry. Drinking all this Water is also filling me up. i'm going to talk to my nutritionist asap.

Too few calories will actually slow down your metabolism and you will slow down your weight loss. Weird, but true. Be sure to eat a sufficient amount of calories, and try to vary your food choices for optimal nutrition. Milk and yougurt are good, but not if that's all you eat. AND DRINK Water.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
