Hi All-

I am excited and still apprehensive about my band. I was banded May 28th, and I am still trying to get over the discomfort to learn: what is healing, what is fullness, what is hunger, etc.

It's all a bit surreal still. I am glad to have found this site. Other people's posts make me feel less alone.

Cheers to all of us!

Better, now. Still very tender at the port. About the burping, I have now become the burping king. Hiccups was driving me crazy on day 1 and 2. But they seem to be gone. (for now. LOL). I just am not having fun with this mushy stuff though.

I too am healing from surgery. So far I am feeling great. How is everyone else? The hardest part is the liquid diet. I couldn't take it and last night I had some vanilla yogurt. That was the best yogurt I ever had. My port is still tender right now. I wish everyone the best!

Congratulations Veronica. The doctor told me to start the mushy one week after the surgery and then at two weeks start on regular food. How about you guys?

I just started on semi regular food. I guess you can call it mushies but it includes oatmeal, mashed potatoes and yummies like that. I was banded on the 21st and this week I finally feel like I've gotten over the hump. I no longer feel hungry! And a little bit of food is fine with me! I hope this last. If it does the weight will come off...this is the sweet place after you transcend from post-op hell.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
