Dr. Felts/Lap Solutions'

Recommended Posts

I am having my first consoltation next Friday, (the 13th of all days)

It is with a Dr. Frank Felts at Lap Band Solutions' in Houston. I would like to hear good or bad info about this company, it's staff and Dr. Felts.

I have met Dr. Felts. He also does surgery here in the Dallas area. They are really good. They are well trained and have done thousands of surgeries combined. My dr. is a parter of Dr. Felts. I just preferred my dr.

LBS is great. They take care of all the insurance for you which can be a hassle.

Don't worry about Friday the 13th...that is lucky for you! I turned 13 and 30 on Friday the 13th

My doc is Benevides, who is also a partner of Felts. I've heard great things about them, and feel very confident for my surgery on the 19th.

How is this pre surgery diet? Is it hard to stay on before the band? I know it is important to loose that fat for the surgery. I am just wondering that if I don't have the willpower to stay on a diet now, how in the world am I going to do on a liquid diet for two weeks prior to surgery.:confused2: Do they give you supplements to help curb your appetite?

Lucky? I hope it is now. If this is indeed the start of my successful journey with the lap band then I will forever consider it my lucky day. Currently it hasn't had a very good track record. I married my first husband on Friday the 13th 30 years ago! That was the start of my weight problems, and the destruction of my self esteem. We eloped to SC. and I didn't realize it was Friday the 13th until I was signing the marriage certificate.

Think about it as a circle. If that was the beginning of your weight problems then this is the END!

Hey, are you sure your appointment is with Dr. Frank Felts on the 13th? The reason that I ask is that I have my surgery scheduled for that morning with Dr. Felts. I was going to change my date but figured that I needed to make that day a positive one for me. My surgery is at 8:30 in the morning, unless he is flying out after my surgery, that sounds funny.

Maybe he is flying out...My appointment is at noon Friday. Although I think I am going to have to reschedule for next week, my husband had to go out of town for work and is flying in Friday. Don't know his flight arrival time yet...so to be on the safe side I am going to call and reschedule I think

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
