 Potato chips are evil and must be destroyed!

Okay - so Jeannie and I talked about this yesterday and I vowed I wasn't touching the Pringles when I got home yesterday. On occassion, yes, it is fine to have them. Unfortunately it is becoming a ritual.

I do not buy Doritos anymore because they are king of the evil and too tempting. I used to sit down and eat an ENTIRE FAMILY bag in one day. I suppose 40 pounds of my excess weight is due to Doritos...so I don't buy them. I do buy Pringles for the kids (and only let them have them in moderation). I specifically didn't buy the Cheeze-Ums...AHHHH cheese ...Did I mention I love Cheese...I bought the Sour Cream And Onion Pringles instead. Why can't I just walk away?!

I walked in the door after being good and walking (DH guilted me into going after I almost canceled because the pool was calling my name). Anyway - what is the first thing I did? Get something to drink and grab the Pringles can. There were bananas, strawberries, grapes and all kinds of good stuff that I wouldn't have felt guilty eating.

Of course I realized what I'd done after I'd eaten like 5 of them and told Mike to take them away and hide them from me. I could have sat there and ate the entire can...I'm a monster and must be stopped!

Why are these self destructive habits so hard to break?

I have the same problem Leslie, fortunately for me, my fill level has taken me to a level of restriction where I can't eat that many. I'm really bad about coming home from work and getting chips or crackers and snacking away.

Hi Nikki! Aren't they evil? I can't wait for my fill...I'm hoping it will give me some restriction. Right now I am working off pure will-power and darn is it hard. Night time is the worse. I do fine during the day, but when I get home will-power goes right out the window! :cursing:

I'm guilty too! Night time is the worst for me. I was telling nip50 that I get the major munchies at night. It doesn't help that I am such a night owl. In fact, my DH has a huge bag of cool ranch doritos that have been calling my name.

I was telling DH last night that I am going to buy some fruits and veggies to snack on. It does get better with time though. My recent fill doesn't allow me to go as overboard as I used to. I say kudos to you for only eating 5 chips. I don't know that I could stop at 5.

Girl me too! Don't give into the calling...stay away from the Doritos!...

I love the Nacho cheese Ones! Cheetos too! That's why they've been banned...DH loves sweets and those can stay around and I won't touch them - so his naughty foods don't affect me much...

The sad thing is I had the fruits and didn't eat them last night. I have also been craving a soda so bad lately! I-MUST-RESIST. I think the fact that I have mentally put these items in to the "I can't eat this" category makes me want them all the more. It would be different if they weren't my addiction. I'm afraid I can't stop and am afraid I'll slip back into my bad behavior that made me fat to start with. I need a restriction!!! (I am whining now and I hate whiners!)

When is your port revision surgery? I know you've already said it somewhere but I can't remember. I hope it's not too far from now...I can't imagine having to go on willpower alone for too long.

It is supposed to be this Friday (6/4). I called my insurance carrier today and they told me it was still under review. If they don't have it approved by tomorrow Dr. B. will have to schedule it when they get it approved, which could be another 1-2 weeks.

Oh no! I hope they approve it in time! Let me know what happens. I have to say though, you are handling it really well. Good for you!

chips are my biggest weakness - Doritos!!!! A day hardly goes by without having some type of chip in the house. That's what I get with having 3 teenage boys in the house. I will let myself have 2 or 3 and that's it. I find that if they don't leave them on the counter that I can resist alot better. For some reason if I just roll them up and put them in the cabinet I can leave them alone, but when they leave the bag open and out in plain view, I just can't control myself to eat at least one or two. Why is it that something so good can be soo bad?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
