LOL! I don't blame you. I can't imagine being on liquids for 3 months.

For me, head hunger is the hardest thing about this. It has gotten better but I still struggle with it everyday, especially since I don't have very good restriction right now. Have you always had head hunger issues? Does it get a lot better once you hit your sweet spot? I'm hoping it does.

Anyway, I'm so proud of all you have accomplished. Sounds like you had a rough time getting there, but you did it! To me, that's a real inspiration. Many people give up when complications occur and I commend you for sticking with it and kicking butt! Best of luck to you!

I think head hunger is an issue for all of us. If we didn't have head hunger and only ate what we needed, when we needed it - we wouldn't be fat.

For me it took a long time but I pretty well have control over head hunger now. 95-99% of the time I do but it took a lot of work to get there.

I have it now, full force. But I think it's just because I don't know how much or what, I'll be able to eat. Once I know my limitations I'll have control again and it shouldn't be much of an issue.

It will happen for you, it takes time and you have to learn little head games and what works for you. For me if that chocolate is calling my name I just remember that I *can* have it, just not right this minute. Then I'm not depriving myself, I'm just putting it off. Works for me.

Hey! You're back! :biggrin2:

I'm so glad it went well. I've been wondering how you were doing!

Thanks for sharing your story. I agree the "band police" should mind their own business. The band doesn't work for everyone and you should only concern yourself with those who can be supportive of what YOU know is right for YOU.

I can't believe someone actually told you to chew more.....really?

I just wanted to tell you what an inspiration you have been. I know that you've had problems but you have truly succeeded. I hope that this procedure works for you and that you and that you feel healthier and happier than you have felt recently. I wish that I would have had the option of the gastric sleeve but my insurance just wouldn't cover it and I didn't have the financial means to do it independently. I'm glad to know that if the case ever arises that this is an option.

HA! Yeah! Well, you know... Protein powder and Water can be kinda chewy and one has to chew them like Gummy bears I guess. ;o)

Thank you, I really did try to make the band forever but it wasn't meant to be in my case.

Thank you, that is very sweet of you. I have to admit, I was a little gun shy of trying a new surgery type but as each day goes by I get more excited about this. I really think this is the procedure for me.

I am the lucky one. It's great to have friends in Arizona. For years I knew nobody there . I got to go shopping with both of you!

Shelly, you're on your way!

WAsA, I hope you're feeling better every day and that you aren't working too hard.

Hey Wasa, so I'm quite interested in the mechanics of how the sleeve works - I get that the stomach is now a "sleeve" hence the name, but I get the gist from what you are saying that they might cut out the section of the stomach that produces ghrelin? If so, that rocks! How exactly does that work? Do you mind telling me (us? ha) more? Or referring me to a website you've read that might explain it for me? What are the pros and cons of the sleeve?

I was going to PM you, but I thought others might be interested too....

Thanks in advance - as many others have said, you're an asset to this forum and have helped many - now you can educate us all about the sleeve :rolleyes2:

Lol the band police....I get the diet police. Grrr "can you eat that?"

I hate that. It really irks me.

I play enough mind games with food I dont need anyone elses imput on what I eat.

I am losing weight. Maybe not super fast. But I wanted the slower weight. Sometimes I just want others to mind their own business.

But I am glad the people on here are being suportive. It is nice to know we have a good group here.

I have missed you. And glad your doing well.

Keep up your strength

You just have to continue to post. I want to hear all the wisdom that you have gained. Yes wisdom. You have succeeded with the band and given countless of us insight to gain our own success. Your new journey, is one you didn't wish for but when a door closes you have to open another.

I know you will succeed with the sleeve although I don't envy anyone with 2 months of liquids. Good luck from another AZ person.

I have always appreciated your posts, Wasa, and hope you continue to post.

It's almost like voodoo around here sometimes. Everyone is afraid their mojo will be jinxed by someone/thing. They don't realize that the power is in them, whatever tool they use or don't use.

Keep on truckin' and keep on postin'.

Thank you!

Everyone here is so sweet. I kinda half expected a bit of negativity about revising to another procedure so this is really nice. Thank you.

I think your revision is a very positive thing! I hope it will always be viewed as such!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
