Wasabubblebutt is in recovery

Wasa

Thanks for being so brave and talking about the revision to the sleeve. It's important for us to know that there is a good option if at some point the band is no longer working well to optimize our health.

I am sure your recovery will be speedy, and hopefully you will continue to share your wisdom and experiences on this forum.

Remember, those that are not supportive are the people that don't matter anyway..........they clearly have nothing more interesting or important to do than make judgements.

Wasa, Congrats on your new sleeve, I hope things go well for you? O to have a doc tell me I'm to thin!!! But to thin can be as bad as to big. You take of yourself, you're in my prayers.

Denise, you have been very cool throughout all of this. (Denise has known about the revision). You have been a fantastic friend to me! Thank you.

Honestly WasA, I feel very lucky to have a friend like you. I just wish we lived closer together!

Seriously, we all need to get together at some point, plan a trip to somewhere. Of course, that would require funds, which (at least on my part) is iffy at the moment (stupid wreck screwed up plans for my own PS, yadda, yadda, yadda).

How could you tell that you were having issues with your band?

I was unfilled and couldn't eat solids for three months. Esophageal spasms, esophageal motility issues, band induced reflux, etc.

Thanks for writing that.

I belong to several boards and I posted on one of them that I was really having problems with my band and didn't have any fight left in me to continue fighting band problems. I wrote that I wanted to revise to a sleeve.

One person from here who also posts on the other board chewed my butt telling me I didn't have a right to a revision surgery (I was self pay for banding and revision) since I was at goal. I was eating ice cream and frosting at the time to maintain my weight and she told me I was anorexic with body image issues. How many anorexics do you know eat frosting and ice cream to maintain/gain weight? She is one of the pro-band folks, only banding will work for anyone, blah blah blah. I had made mention of the revision surgery here and I came back and deleted the posts deciding I wouldn't say anything to anyone until after it was done. It was a hard decision to give up my band and I just didn't need the crap so I didn't tell many about it until it was done and over.

Then I had others telling me I should chew better. How much should I chew a Protein Shake? ;o)

Of all boards I should have probably mentioned here what I was planning but due to the experience on the other board, I just didn't want to, so thanks for writing what you did.

Wasa, I am glad you are on the mend! I will think in my mind that I am sending you the 10 lbs from my surplus! My dr. office just announced that they are going to be offering the sleeve...too funny considering I just got banded and 1 week later here is the "new" thing there...LOL I am sure I will do well with the band.

I will be interested to hear about your progress and still would love to meet up with you some time...I met Denise at her last visit here!

Take care, Shelley

I like that article that's posted on here that having the lap band is a learning curve. She writes that we had surgery on our stomachs not our brains. That's was what I was trying to say above in another post. I don't have a doubt in my mind that if something went wrong with my band, I would gain all my weight back. My brain still wants junk food. It's the band that forces me to eat the tiny portions that saves me if I do indulge myself in junk food.

I would be happy to get a sleeve. Then I could stop worrying that something was going to go wrong with my band.

Wasa, I'm glad you are doing well! Your weight loss results from lapband were phenomenal, so I'm sorry you had to have it removed but I happy you found another procedure. I wish you the best and sincerley hope you will be sticking around here. You have given some great advice here. Good luck and I wish you a speedy recovery.

HI Denise, I fully understood your first post! I am definitely just starting the "bandster hell" stage and I am sure half of it is just my brain...Oh well, I keep ignoring it!

Take care , Shelley

Good to hear you are on the mend, Wasa. We missed you. Well, some of us missed you! HAR!!!

When you are up to it I'd like to read about some of your postSleeve experiences.

cheers on your NEW journey

But not all the mods, eh? (wink wink nudge nudge)<wink wink="" nudge="">

My post op diet is 10 days of clears, 10 of fulls, 10 soft, then regular food.

I'm at 8 days, I just ate 16 chickens, a ham, a pound of taffy, and a fifth of rum.

Did I hurt my staple line?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I couldn't resist! ;o)))

It's soooo tempting to go to the newbie section and post some questions....</wink>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
