Protein Supplement Suggestions

Recommended Posts

I use unjury unflavored. You can order some individual pouches on-line. As long as your not heating it up past a certin degree It dosent change anytihng. I add it to pudding So I get desert with a Protein kick to it. I also add it to cottage cheese and other food that is creamy.

I was having a really hard time getting enough Protein in my system. AND my doctor told me NO MORE Protein shakes. So I have been trying high protein meals...Boiled egg for Breakfast...Takes a while but I manage to get it down. and super high protein tuna salad...I use Greek yougart instead of mayo for less fat and more protein. Seems to be working And I also make hummus for an added snack/lunch.

I found the Jillian Michaels (Biggest Loser) Protein Powder to be pretty good in the vanilla flavor, not chocolate. I mixed it with warm a little warm Water at first to dissolve it, then added more cool water, ice cubes and 2 oz of vanilla rice or almond milk and shook it hard. It was pretty good and not too thick. It filled me for a couple to 3 hours when I made 16 oz and sipped it over an hour or so in the morning on my drive to work.

I just bought Jillian's brand! I'm glad you said it's ok. I haven't tried it yet. I usually use Slimfast or Carnation Instant Breakfast, but I just want another option for liquids. I'm looking forward to trying Jillian's today @ lunch!

Both chocolate and vanilla flavors of Body Fortress (from Walmart) are awesome. I order sugar free flavored syrups from DiVinci.com. There is every flavor you can imagine so you can have anything from chocolate covered cherry to vanilla chai to peppermint patty. the sky is the limit with the sugar free syrups. I have a little Hamilton Beach blender. I fill it with 4 or 5 ice cubes, 8 oz of skim milk, a scoop of Protein powder and about 2 tbs. of Syrup. you can even add multiple syrups like pineapple and coconut with the vanilla and you have a pina colada. YUMMM. I have to be honest, I actually enjoy having them. They are really good.

I like the unjury strawberry Sorbet. It is good when mixed in Lemonade. I also tend to revert back to to Carnation Instant Breakfast Mixes (Sugar Free of course) - but they are hard to find. The premixed one are nasty.

I buy the sf cib powdered at cub foods or rainbow not sure where you live but I know here in MN you can get them in both veriaty pack and all chocolate 8 per pack for like $4.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
