You are right about it being too soon to vacuum, take care of yourself, the housework will still be there in a week when you feel better. The pain you are probably feeling is the gas from the anesthisia, I had it too, my chest was really sore and very uncomfortable, walk around that will help it (don't walk around w/ the vacuum). I know that its hard when you don't have someone to help you especially when you have little ones. I have three children, my youngest are three and four, so I can't ever get sick, have to take care of them, but try to do as little as possible. you just had surgery and need time to recover, so take it easy. I hope you get to feeling better, so rest up.

You should not be vacuming or do anything Strenous. Like Estela says take it easy and get rested. No picking up the kids (are they walking?). With each passing day you should get better. How are you doing on your intake of Water and Protien???

my kids are 8 and 3 so they are not totally dependent.. it is just that they are off from school this week . i know i shouldnt be vaccuming and i am going to stop.. the only way i can describe the feeling i am having is when you are pregnant and the baby is kicking you in your ribs .. that is kinda what i am feeling almost like someone is inside me.. am i sounding crazy. i know i am probably still swollen in there and that is it but it is just annoying... i am not super heavy either and am not sure if maybe that is why i am feeling more:think

Welcome to the Banded Gentry NYgrl!

I don't think you sound crazy, I get that same feeling when I have a bit of gas... But when I describe it that way, people do look at me like I'm nuts... :D

You've just had a major surgury! give yourself permission to pamper yourself, and let that house work go for a couple of days! You should start feeling much better in the next couple of days.

Welcome nygirl! You came to the right place for support! First piece of advice you have already recieved...

"Step away from the vacuum cleaner!" and the washer/dryer, and the sink with dirty dishes, and the duster, and the toilet brush. If it bugs you that much, call Minute Maids and have them come in this week. If that's not worth it, let it go. The house will wait.

I have a two year old at home (and a 5 year old in Kindergarten). Had my surgery on Friday, stayed home with "little bit" on Monday while DH worked and liked to have died from exhaustion! Lucky me, I got fatigued rather than energized after surgery. My sister stayed the days with me on tues and wed, then my dad on thurs and fri. I just needed to be off the hook. I needed help lifting him. I needed to be able to lay down and rest often.

Now it doesn't seem as though you are suffering like I was, but SLOW DOWN!

And all your pains sound totally normal. Gas in your bowels, everything tender, feeling every little turn on your insides.

Do what Bubbame said and get in your Water and Protein. You will recover nicely, I'm sure.

Again, welcome to LBT and congratulations on being banded!!

OMG

Are you a Compuslive Cleaner?? As long as you are moving slowly then I guess you are going to be alright. Wow sometimes I wish I would be like that. My house is not messy just lived in:)

I just had my banding on Monday... I'm surprised how well I do feel... but still sore and tired. The worst entry is the one the port is in... it feels very tender and bruised like crazy. Normal? It is a very strange feeling this new stomach... my husband asked me when we got home on Tuesday if I was hungry and I said I didn't know what the feeling was that I had... I think now I'm beginning to know hungry feeling as opposed to ouch feeling!! LOL

I was banded on 4/21/05. I was a surgery virgin until then. I honestly expected to come home and in 1 day feel like normal with some slight pain. Boy was I wrong. Everyone is different, but I had a very hard time until my 4th day out of surgery. I was depressed, hungry and in pain. The pain in my port area worsed on days 3,4 and 5. But with walking and resting I am now day 9 and feel great!

I do take it easy. I try to keep a somewhat normal schedule, but I do nap and go to bed earlier than I use to.

Lay off the housework for a while. Your body will tell you when it is time to do more activity. Listen to your body and do what is best for you not your house.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
